Great location, inclusive, actively tries to build sense of community with its residents. Chocolate cake every evening at 8:00 brings guests together. Facilities good.

A nice backpackers with a homey vibe and nice staff! We had the private room with ensuite. I was worry about being too cold but the heater and electric blankets were enough to keeps us warm and cozy. The bathroom was clean but a fan would have been great. Even though the bathroom is between the kitchen and the bedroom, we could still hear everything going on in the kitchen but it was quiet most of the time at night. The kitchen was fine but the kettles were a bit tired. The living room was good and the outdoor area must be great in summer.

I find TBB perfect for location, cleanliness all of the above ratings. I love having such a fab kitchen. I really appreciate that my slight mobilty problem with stairs was accommodated. Quite literally 😁This is my second stay, and I will be back.

We stayed at the backpacker our first day in New Zealand. It worked out so well we booked the last night of our trip there....walkable to most areas we needed in Nelson, close to the airport, free parking in the lot or on the street, AND chocolate "pudding" and ice cream every night at 8 PM.

a bit far out from town (about an 18 minute walk) which is a pain if you don’t have a car

the most homey hostel i’ve been to on my whole trip. they had hot water bottles and blankets available, a very cosy living room with books and board games, and free chocolate pudding and ice cream every day at 8pm. the staff were so helpful with booking an excursion for me.

Chocolate pudding and homely atmosphere

The shower head was small and didn't have great water pressure. But this is definitely not a deal breaker!

Very homey - it was situated in a residential area, but still within walking distance of the downtown and attractions like the Centre of NZ Monument. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my private room had an en suite toilet and sink! The free chocolate pudding and ice cream each night is also a plus, and it makes it easy to connect with other travelers.

I had a warm wlecome. Its a very cumfortable and peaceful place, clean with many activitys to do ( music, books...). The chocolate pooding is delicious.

The dryers had to be run for multiple times before clothing was dry.

Really good atmosphere - instruments and games in the lounge made for really nice evenings. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely homely feel.

Bathrooms were pretty small and cramped but as good as could be expected in an older building.

8pm snacks were lovely. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Nice to have the hot water bottles and extra blankets if needed.

Great location, close enough to the centre but far enough out to feel more chilled and less busy. Staff super helpful and friendly. Nice guests, chilled vibed. Swapped my book with one in their collection which was nice. Clean facilities and you can see people cleaning throughout the day, keeping the place tidy.
