Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Everything was great. No complaints from me
Our host Debbie was so incredibly hospitable and kind and so so helpful. The location is superb. The facilities are just great and the spa is beautiful. The beds were super lush and the place was so clean. Debbie was such a gracious host and helped us out when my little one wasn't feeling too well. She was so understanding and kind about it. Loved staying here and so incredibly appreciative that we got such a great place to stay in for the price and locale!

Our host Debbie was super friendly, informative and responsive. Our stay was a complete delight. Very clean, comfortable, well equipped and a great location. We couldn't recommend it more.

Ideal location: close to coastal walkway and short walk to CBD. Debbie was very warm and welcoming: she greeted us on arrival and gave us some good local tips. And the place itself was clean modern and comfortable.

Great location. Debbie introduced herself and gave us some information about where to find things. Lovely comfortable bed. Loved to spa bath especially after a day of travelling. Would highly recommend and would book again.

Only one thing and that is just no actual view. Doesn't detract though as everything else makes up for it. That MITRE 10 no longer has the cafe.
Private, great communication ahead of time via booking.com. Given detailed descriptions as to where to park, location of the lock box and eventually the code at a later planned reveal. Love the amenities. Lovely owner who is the occupier on the above level. Having MITRE 10 opposite. The relaxing extra-large spa bath, Parking a few steps away. Own private entrance.

There'll be even better if there's another rubbish bin in the toilet.
The location is close to everything! We really enjoyed the stay in this warm and cosy house. The host Debbie is friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back if we travel to New Plymouth next time!

Everything exceeded our expectations
Debbie was very friendly and helpful. Our accommodation was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Location was great for access to the Coastal Walkeay and the CBD.

Only issue we had was the spa bath plug was missing the pull tab bit which led to some hilarity as the missus was too short to reach the bottom from outside the bath without half drowning. (Debbie has assured us this will be replaced immediately)
Awesome location, a few minutes walk to everything. Nice and quiet, clean rooms and the Spa bath was an added treat. Debbie was very nice and even provided some snacks. It has a small stove top plus gear even though it was listed as not having a kitchenette which was nice so we could cook for ourselves. Definitely coming back.

It was so clean, up to date and very very convenient. Debbie could not have been more helpful, and my mum 89 and I 60 found it so convenient to get to places on foot. We are so glad we stumbled onto this property.

None, it was perfect!
Modern house, super clean, and everything smells fresh from linens to bathroom and kitchen. Location is very convenient to beaches and other attractions (there's a handy list on the centre table), and stores (our favourite was shopping in Mitre 10 home store just a stone throw away!). The owner is so friendly and approachable, very responsive even after our checkout (we left an item and she's working to courier it to us). The place is perfect for family holiday, we had a great time celebrating our son's birthday. Thank you, Debbie!
