Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Host was very kind, the room was comfortable, warm, with a nice bed. Shower was warm and good pressure, but bathroom and toilet separated from the bedroom which i did not realiser when i booked (my mistake!) . Good wifi connection as well which I needed because I had to work.

Great value - facilities are perfectly adequate and clean. The property is near the river - there's a paved walking path - and not far from the city. The owner was very thoughtful and helpful - she gave me an excellent recommendation for dinner. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well.

New ZealandThe lack of amenities it was supposed to have had. There was no toaster, no microwave, no heating, no oven or hob, no sink or bench to clean dishes. There is only a small fridge and jug. Down the stairs and through the corridor these items were available in a communal kitchen area. Fine if you knew that would be the case when booking, but information given makes it sound like amenities are in your room. I was not thrilled about having to leave my room with my two pieces of toast and standing in the cold waiting. The jug had to be filled by a cup from the bathroom. A tiny bit of toilet paper only so had to request more. Heater was given when requested. Took a while so jumped into bed after trudging downstairs to use the microwave to heat my wheat bag. Shower door was dirty, and bathroom power point did not work. Lamp shade had five lights, two had no bulbs, one was a complete random type but worked and one flickered on when it felt like it. Coffee container had about 3tsps of old coffee which I had to break into lumps as it was a solid mass. Gave up watching tv as it kept buffering. One bed socket, so it was either the electric blanket or lamp or charge phone. I'm sorry to give this feedback as Amy was so lovely, but people should know what they are getting, or not getting, when they book the room.
Bed was very comfortable and warm, lovely linen. Shower was good.
