Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandIn hindsight we wish we had booked in for a meal because our fellow guests seemed to be delighted. I think it was Chris who was the really good Chef, although Scot was involved too. Great hosts, both of them.
Our hosts were very welcoming, very accommodating. The garden is well worth exploring. We loved the dogs (American Cocker spaniels); Katie and Grayson charmed the socks off us!

New ZealandNothing at all that we didn't like. Even the pets were friendly.
Loved everything about our stay. Beautiful gardens, fantastic food, all the comforts one could wish for and both Chris and Scott were really friendly and delightful hosts, no to mention their cooking was out of this world. Nothing was too much hassle and we would have loved to extend our stay. Definitely would return there at some time in the future.

Abkhazia, GeorgiaChris and Scott were amazing. We were greeted with a piece of self baked cake - which was delicious. Our Suite was exactly as shown in the photos and we loved the style. We only spend there one night as we were on our way to the south. We recommend a longer stay and letting them spoil you! The breakfast was great, too. They served various cereal options with preserved fruits. They also made a lot of jam options. 10/10 would always come back

New ZealandOmaka Lodge is outstanding. We can see why it is so well known and highly recommended by so many. The accommodation is 6 star, the location glorious, and the owners and hosts of Omaka Lodge are the best we have ever met in New Zealand. You could not be anything but overjoyed with staying here. In mid-winter, it was warm and cozy, beautifully warm, delicious breakfasts and welcoming afternoon tea with home baking. The wonderful owners could not have been more welcoming.

New ZealandThe weather.
Omaka Lodge would be our dream of heaven. The tranquility, beautiful surroundings, and fantastic soft, comfortable pillows and bed. Our hosts, Chris and Scott, are exceptionally beautiful people. The time and effort given ensured we were treated like royalty enjoying the scrumptious homemade lemon muffins, bread jams, and desserts. Spring and summer will be a definite must for us to enjoy Chris and Scott's labour's of love in the gardens, pool, and tennis court. A deliciously designed interior with every comfort imagined. Our stay was exceptional. Thank you, Chris and Scott, for sharing your lovely home with us.

AustraliaMore time!
It is hard to understate the attention to detail of this lodge. The gardens are spectacular as are the Taranaki hills that the property is nestled in. The decor is a fusion of antiques with modern touches. My apartment was upstairs and fully private with a huge double shower with skylight. The bed was somewhere underneath a mountain of cushions and quality linen. My hosts were such good company and the food was superb. I resisted the urge to pocket the Sterling silver spoons. This is what five star ratings are made for. My hosts Chris and Scott are currently adding a self contained cottage to their property with the same care and attention to detail that the main lodge exhibits. I would love to come back in Spring to see the bulbs in bloom. This is a highly recommended experience.

New ZealandNothing . It was great.
Our stay felt personal as we were treated like family. We were greeted at the car park and welcomed then led through a beautiful garden to the house entrance where we shown the facilities and our room. We were left to our own requirements, quiet reading time, trips to sights, great Thai restaurant meal then back to the lodge. It was like coming back to a top class hotel. We opened a bottle of wine and asked the hosts to join us and great conversation was had. A perfect and restful stay.
