Great location, one of the comfiest hostel beds I've ever stayed in. Clean tidy and social. Can't ask for much better from a hostel. Would definitely book again.

Not very quiet when I was there. Apparently a birthday with very loud guests. Not sure why they were in a room instead of common area that would have provided some noise dampening. Kitchen very clean! Living room common area nice and warm w wood stove heat. Mattress very old and not very comfortable. Overall ok, served purpose, good price. Not sure if book it again.

The room is a good size, clean and with heaters, even had the sink. The kitchen is also good size, with main equipment. I could not find a fridge (but I also didn't need it). There was a shop in the same building if something needed.

Some of the toilets weren't clean, but there are many toilets around the hostel and it's possible to use a different one if the one next to your room isn't clean enough for you.

Very comfortable and well-equipped hostel at an unbeatable price. Its position is very convenient, being equally close to Tongariro and Ruapehu. Rooms are simple, but equipped with everything you need to feel warm and sleep soundly, communal areas are spacious and the kitchen is complete with any tool one might need. The facility also includes a really nice pub and a minimarket. The host is very friendly and helpful. Overall great value for money, considering the super-cheap price, I visited twice recently and was very satisfied both times.

The place is dated. The single rooms are on the small side, enough space for a bed and not much more. The sink faucets are old, not allowing you to put your hands fully underneath to wash. The window in the shower closest to my room was broken allowing cold air to rush in. It is located on the opposite side of town away from the one store and restaurants of National Park. It's about a twenty-minute walk.

It is reasonably priced for the area. The bed is okay. The kitchen and eating area are large and reasonably clean.

Be great if the website explained that kitchen facilities with basic utensils are available. It was a pleasant surprise to find these and some might find helpful to know in advance

Black, synthetic, faux fur sheets. Ugh! Gave me nightmares. Everything was quite basic, e.g. the door of the toilet was sticking and quite difficult to open from the inside.

Good kitchen facilities. Good sized fridge. Sink in room. Friendly staff. Handy shop on site.

    - the ladder for the the bunk bed was hard to use without handles - the window didn’t close properly - some more hangers would be great

    - bed and bedding really comfy - room, kitchen and washrooms were very clean - kitchen well equiped - nice common area

Very simple lodge, but well kept, very clean, comfortable, with modern showers and a large, well equipped kitchen, $4 to do laundry, and very friendly and helpful staff. Of course also a fantastic location close to all the beautiful hikes in the Tongariro area. I stayed two nights longer than planned and my stay was so restorative, as both the lodge and the landscapes just feel peaceful and remote in the best way.

Not much! Was a little noisy at night on our final night but to be expected with a lot of people getting up early to hike etc.

I was really impressed with this place! Great location, clean and well-stocked kitchen. Bathrooms were clean and water pressure good in the shower. Great value for money. Staff friendly when I checked in. Wi-Fi was decent given remote location. Would stay again!!

No screens on the windows and some doors/windows are broken so flies come into the kitchen when you’re cooking. WiFi isn’t good, can’t connect outside of the common areas, and cuts in and out. Can’t rely on the WiFi to work for a video call.

Host is super kind and helpful. Place was clean. Bedding was SO NICE! They have heated blankets on the beds and it’s awesome.

The guys in the room opposite me drinking and watching Squid Game really loudly late into the night. Super annoying when you’re exhausted from doing the crossing and you’ve got a long drive the next day.

Great location. Cooking facilities are good. Comfy beds.

The heaters in the kitchen and lounge room don't work and I had to wrap myself in a blanket. The TV doesn't work and neither does the washing machine. Flies are a problem and there's no flywire on the windows in the bedrooms. The kitchen door doesn't close properly and flies are easily entering the cooking area. A small draught beer in their bar cost $12.50!

Joy and Josh are very friendly and helpful. There are electric blankets on the beds.

The bunk bed didn't have a ladder or railing so it was difficult to get on and off.
