Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

A lake view would be great , but we didn’t book that !
Nice sized room, with great bathroom with spa. Also a coffee maker with pods. Lovely bar area with comfortable lounges with a wonderful view of lake Taupo. The bar staff very helpful and friendly with complimentary prezetels. Free parking onsite also.

Nothing. Everything perfect.
A beautiful lakeside Hotel. Not too far from town easy drive. Lovely staff and great facilities. Very comfortable beds and pillows. We went to the Restaurant for evening dinner very nice And had the Buffett breakfast. A lovely celebration weekend.

Bathroom was a bit dated and the fan which went on every time you switched the light on was very noisy. Could hear traffic noise at busy times.
Room was clean and comfortable with a great view of the lake. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel is a bit out of town but handy for the lake path if you like to walk by the lake.

Can refill breakfast foods frequently. One morning I showed up at 8:30 AM; most foods were gone. Another morning I showed up at 8 AM; the food was good.
The people at the front desk and the restaurants were super friendly, and Amisda gave amazing service at the restaurant. The room was very clean. The shower was awesome, with great water pressure and heat. The bed was comfy too. Plus, the room looked out over the lake. It's a great hotel if you want a chill vacation. I'd totally come back.

The beds are so soft, its difficult for us to sleep. The room and the whole facility is quite old. I suggest the hotel needs an upgrade or renovation.

The fan comes on with the light in the bathroom and is rather loud. Would have been good to have a couple of knives, forks and spoons along with a dishcloth. Reception staff could have been more informative about the Grotto I.e; what the procedure is with the towels etc without us having to ask once we had booked it.
Great view upstairs. Enjoyed the Grotto.

There was a very bad smell in the foyer the rooms were dated and their patio furniture broken. The patios only gave a sun shade so if it’s raining it’s all wet outside. The beds were very soft.
The view was stunning and because the hotel was out of town it was quieter. This hotel would be perfect in summer to go for a dip in the lake then straight to the hotel. The pool was lovely and heated and their restaurant looked nice enough although we didn’t go. Parking was first in first served but we didn’t have issues.

Our room was above the lounge and the base sound from the vocalist/guitarist was annoying. I felt the dinner menu was a little basic. We had very noisy children close by as well as the staff cleaning cupboard which was also a bit noisy when trying to sleep in.
The view was superb. Easy access to walks. The bar/lounge area was very welcoming. The bed was amazing. The live music was awesome. Very friendly staff.

Hearing the plumbing from the room next door and the guttering, downpipe noises, dripping. Small leaking shower and off hand staff.
