How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The heating set up wasn’t the best as there was no quick way to heat the main living area. The washing machine was full of wet sheets so we didn’t feel like we could use it.

The house was a good size. It was clean & tidy and once we got the fire going m, it was very warm. Easy to find in town.

Need air conditioning on a super hot day. Toilet cistern kept on running. Has obviously been a previous issue as they had attempted to fix with a cable tie.

We couldn't get to do the laundry as we didn't find the detergent and the owner's messages were a bit cryptic and didn't help find the detergent. Also, there was a lot of clutter in the laundry area which didn't help. The laundry contained previous wash which was not unloaded and there was no place to keep the washed cloths as the laundry basket was overfilled with other stuff.
The house is very spacious and rooms were more than comfy. There was plenty of space and we made use of shared kitchen and living areas. The house was very quiet at night and the beds were very cosy. Check-in was easy due to the detailed instructions given by the owners. We had a very pleasant stay.

This modern unit is part of a private house, which also caters for other guests. Although located in town, it is in a quiet area with parking around the back, beside the door to the unit. It is possible to use the owner’s kitchen, but the unit contains a microwave, jug, toaster and a good supply of breakfast choices.

This is Booking dot com's fault, but I did not get the message with the keycode, nor any details about how to work the central heating etc. I used a portable heater from the room to heat the lounge as it was mildly cool (this is why comfort is three out of four). The owners are aware of the messaging issue (as of March/April 2024).. The property has a wood burner in the lounge, which may be the main method of heating in winter, but we never lit it up.
Very nicely made beds with tight white crisp sheets of high quality cotton, hotel standard. The owners were away, so we had the place to ourselves. They were totally available on the phone however. They also had a very friendly cat and off-street parking. This review is for one night but in reality we were there for three as there were two bookings done back to back.

Over flowing rubbish at back door Some of the pillows were a little too thin, but luckily a few of them. Not enough milk for 4 people to enjoy the cereals.

The host is very attending. She tries to help you in every way. Nice room with beautiful bathroom, fridge, microwave, water boiler. If you are looking for an extra room, you can find one down the hallway. You can use the hosts living room and kitchen.

Spare bedroom had to use the first bedrooms ensuite bathroom. Not good if you need to get up during the night. Didn’t realise this when booking. Host lives there & uses main bathroom & toilet.
Clean & comfortable. Host great, made us feel very welcome.
