Mary gave us a warm and informative welcome. Mary’s accommodation was beautiful, stylish and practical (loved the dishwasher in a drawer!). The bed was super comfortable and the bedroom opened onto an established garden with a collection of interesting plants, avocado trees and views over a dry stone wall (which made my Welsh husband feel very at home) onto open fields. The location was truly peaceful and in the absence of light pollution we were treated to a magnificent night sky. The fridge was generously stocked with cereal, yoghurt, fruit, bread, butter and Jam and Mary also provided a selection of teas and coffee. We really enjoyed our stay.

Tranquil is definitely the description I would use for this accommodation. Privacy was the main reason for selecting this B&B hoping to be undisturbed for both work and relaxation. The location boasts absolute peace and quiet set in a beautifully landscaped property. We also appreciated the hosts valued our need for privacy, but compassionately showed concerns about provisions for our dietary situation The breakfast stocks were more than adequate and the kitchenette has everything you need to self cater for any other meals. The tasteful decor and all the other little special touches make this place one I would highly recommend.

Everything was perfect.

Supremely comfortable accommodation in a rural setting, Mary's Tranquil B&B is a five star stay. The surroundings are immaculately presented as is the interior. The stylish furnishings and decor could easily be imagined in a glossy home interiors magazine. Clever design features such as sliding doors and a folding screen in front of the kitchen facility mean that space is maximized and is aesthetically pleasing too.. Breakfast provisions are generous and a microwave as well as two ceramic elements mean that guests could easily prepare a meal should they wish to. Despite being somewhat rural it's still a quick drive to the town to takeaways and restaurants. Mary provides a warm welcome yet maintains your privacy and peace. Tranquil is a most apt descriptor for this accommodation and its setting. This is a place I plan to return to - luxury without the price point to match. Mary's generosity even extended to a gift of a bag of avocadoes on my way home. Thank you!

I had to leave !!!

Mary has done a spectacular job with this B&B - it’s definitely in my top 3 of all time, and I’ve stayed at many. The sweeping driveway through orchards immediately inspires and calms you. And when you eventually reach the house, you are tempted to check you’ve got the address right ! Mary and Neville warmly welcomed me on the driveway and I was quickly shown to my ‘home’ for 3 nights. The front door opens into the first of two HUGE bedrooms - both with masses of storage space. Directly between the bedrooms is a beautifully equipped bathroom, fully stocked with everything you’d need. And beyond that is a large lounge with a lovely kitchenette behind folding doors. Prior to going out to the local store, I had a cursory look in the fridge and cupboards to see what I needed to buy for breakfast . . . in short, absolutely NOTHING. Mary had supplied everything I could possibly need, and more !!! If you seek tranquility and serenity in a B&B . . . Mary’s in the place to be 🙏.

Great stay, the apartment exceeded our expectations. The wifi worked well and I managed to do a little bit of work in the evening. We had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. Close to town and in a beautiful and quiet setting.

Finding the property was very difficult approaching from the Tutukaka/Matapouri side. A roadside sign would have been useful.

Mary’s accommodation was so fantastic! It was on a gorgeous property surrounded by trees and the space was stunning. The bed was super comfy, the whole place was spotless and beautifully appointed. The kitchen was stocked with many yummy things and Mary was so welcoming and friendly. There wasn’t a single detail she missed. I look forward to staying again as this will be my regular Whangarei accommodation from now on. Thanks again, Mary for such a relaxing and luxurious stay!

We lived the location. So much to see around the area. Mary was an amazingly warm and welcoming host and the property and setting was stunning. We felt as if we were staying in a 5 star luxurious hotel suite. On our departure, Mary gifted to us some beautiful fresh produce from her farm. Breakfast was so good. Just a tiny detail: although there was an ample breakfast ready in the fridge, we would have loved a fresh piece of fruit, in stead of the canned fruit.

Mary’s Tranquil B&B is excellent! Spacious, quiet, very tasteful interior. Outside terrace. Beautiful big garden with many avocado trees. The owners kindly gave us a bag of super delicious avocados when we left.
