The castle grounds are awesome. We also enjoyed the breakfast in the converted staples. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We think it s great location for a family trip.

Unfortunately it took 40 minutes to check us in. Even after repeated calls to manager from different employee who did not have permission to make check in it took really long time.

The location was perfect, it is 30 minutes drive both to the centre of Dunedin and 30 minutes to the albatross centre. If you like to visit the castle, it is within the price of accomodation which makes up for the price of overnight stay.

Excellent customer service, staff went above and beyond and was an incredible experience for the price. Couldn’t recommend any higher and the value for money was exceptional. We also did the three course dinner which was amazing and we loved.

The only thing we didn't enjoy, and this is just my personal opinion, was the food in the castle at night. Honestly, the appetiser wasn't delicious at all (pear with cheese) and the fish had no flavour and no salt. I think it would be good to see the menu beforehand or familiarise yourself with it. We've had several set meals, but this one wasn't anything extraordinary for us.

It's a must-visit place if you're in Dunedin. We went in the winter. I hope to return in the spring and see how beautiful the garden looks from the photos. The breakfasts were perfect, with different options. If you really want to stay there, do it. Take the opportunity to tour the castle. We stayed in the Lodge, and it was super comfortable with a wonderful view.

The roads to get there 😅 not something you can help but definitely noted for next time. Also thank goodness your ceiling had foam on them because I banged my head a number of times in the room when walking around.

The Trust the Chef dinner in the castle was fantastic! Such a beautiful venue! Loved the breakfast and being able to explore the gardens and castle. Sadly it was foggy the next morning and we had arrived after dark. The view would be amazing if it was clear!

The distance from Dunedin made it a 50 minute round trip to go and get dinner as there were no cooking facilities with the rooms so you had to drive for dinner if you wanted to stay for an extended period.

Amazing views, friendly staff, very cozy accomodation, and the complimentary breakfast was way better than we would have expected, like eating at a restaurant each morning.
