Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandIt would have been good to have a mini fridge in each room.
The hot tub, bar / restaurant and being so close to other bars and restaurants.

New ZealandRooms were quite small so would have been nice to have access to the communal areas during the day. I appreciate though that most people are out & about during the day & things can't be left open for security reasons. Fortunately it was sunny while we were there & we could sit at the outside area.
Staff were lovely & bar had a good vibe. Nice to have a spa with such a great view & also the continental breakfast was a bonus. Rooms were clean & warm and beds were comfortable

New ZealandThe paper thin walls! They provide complementary ear plugs, which says it all! Mind you, the place is historic so it comes with the territory.
Staff is very friendly. Great food in the restaurant. Continental breakfast was included, which was a nice bonus. Even enjoyed a dip in the spa pool.

New ZealandI understand its not really a hotel, but given that there is no daily room cleaning, maybe taking out the rubbish and topping up the coffee, sugar and milk in the room should be a minimum.
The location was fantastic. Walking distance from decent pub and eateries. The mountain road is super close also. The room was small but well presented, with a tv and freeview channel which we enjoyed when tucking up early. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was decent with good water pressure. Has a decent sized drying room for the skiing gear. Overall a decent stay

They also included breakfast (toast and cereal ) which was a perfect way to start the day and more than enough food .

New ZealandA bit on the small side.
The room is small and basic but has everything (almost.. you do need to Rent a Fridge if you need one) Beds are super comfortable and room is warm. Shower is good with nice pressure. It comes with continental breakfast included which is a surprise for us. Great value for our snowboarding trip.

New ZealandI didn't like how the TV was an issue to deal with, they have a google cloud like set up so you have to sign in to be able to even watch TV so none of it is free or you pay to watch something, should be just a TV aerial set up where it is free because elderly people will struggle and some people might not be very tech Savy
I like there is a pub connected that you can go have dinner at and they have really nice food. The other thing I like is the location of the place and the access to a spa that you don't have to book

New ZealandWe were unaware that the rooms were basically units in blocks. Nothing I saw in the information led me to believe that. I assumed the rooms were in the building. We arrived on a dark, rainy winter evening and had to traipse our luggage to a block at the back of the building. We then had to go through the rain again to the restaurant/bar. We are not blaming Kings for the weather, but it was unexpected as we assumed the rooms were in the main building. The bar had a very "backpacker" feel with loud music and pool tables. Again not a criticism as such but not necessarily the vibe I was looking for. We would have gone to the main street but that would have meant a car journey as it was too far to trek on a horrible evening. The unit was very basic for the price. I know Ohakune is expensive and it was a fair price for the area but it was very pricey for a very basic unit. There was no light near the sink and mirror - which was in the main area so it was difficult to see clearly for doing makeup. The sound from the next cabin came through the wall loud and clear. We could hear the murmer of voices, the tv and every footstep.
The staff were welcoming. The room was clean and I liked the Fair Trade tea and coffee. The little radiator was on in the room and just managed to warm the room enough. We ate in the restaurant and the food was good.

New ZealandA few hooks were all there was to hang clothes, towels, etc. TV picture was black at the top so luckily we weren't really wanting to watch TV. A bit of mold on the bathroom ceiling and the windows streamed in the morning & needed mopping up. Apart from those few niggles, was a good place to stay, close to town & nice view.
Great location, short walk to a fab breakfast/brunch place just around the corner. Staff were very helpful & gave us great ideas for sightseeing. Had a hot tub just outside the unit, but we somehow never got around to using it, sadly - next time! The shower had great pressure which we appreciated. Had good supply of tea, coffee & hot chocolate with individual milks & a fast kettle. Bed was pretty comfortable & good size (queen). Nice private car parking behind the units. Wifi was handy for planning our trips. Nice table & chairs out on the deck to take advantage of the sun
