Like in many places in New Zealand, the hot and cold water come from separate taps — not our favourite setup, but manageable.

We had a very nice stay in this well-equipped holiday cottage, just a short walk from the beach. The cottage has a terrace with a table and sunshade — perfect for relaxing outside. The bathroom is simple but clean. There's a selection of coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the kitchen. The late check-in was well organised; instructions and the key were waiting for us in the reception area, which made arrival stress-free. You can rent a small shovel for visiting Hot Water Beach — very handy and definitely recommended!

No oven, just a microwave. As it was low season most of the town was closed.

I feel that I need to make clear that when I visited the resort it was in the middle of the NZ winter (low season) and that I was not sure what to expect. The facilities in the resort were largely shut (due to it being low season) but the cabin was comfortable, if a little sparsely furnished; this might be the norm for such accommodation in NZ so should not necessarily be taken as a criticism. The location could not have been better.

Just a short walk from the beach. Rooms were clean and functional. Good location for visiting Cathedral Cove. We hiked from our room the Cathedral Cove due to the parking situation at Cathedral Cove.

Expensive. Almost $300 a night for 2 adults and 1 child, for a basic cabin with a particularly poor shower.

Amazing location, right next to beautiful beach. Close to village and the famous cathedral cove walkway. Nice helpful staff. The summer bar with food is great.

We were unable to use the hot tub behind our studio near the beach as it required a booking (which we didn't know). Also It was a windy day and they don't allow the hot tub use in poor weather conditions. This was disappointing as we had booked the resort when we saw there was a hot tub available and it did not say on the website that it requires a booking or it's unavailable if the weather is poor. Also there was loud walking above our studio as we were on the ground floor, so someone above us was inconsiderate of the noise despite it saying to respect others stay in the guest book especially in evening hours. The light above the kitchen sink didn't not work too which made cooking in the evening a bit harder. I did make reception aware of these minor issues. I would return here for the comfortable clean facilities however I would want to use the hot tub on a calm day. If there were other resorts where you could use the hot tub at any time, then I would consider somewhere else.

The facilities in the studio cabin we rented were excellent. Lounge, tv, double bed, kitchenette with all appliances and large spacious bathroom and outdoor decking. The bar near reception was great for pizza, beers and board games in the evening. The facilities were super clean as well.

Comfortable room with porch, and quick access to Hahei Beach. Part of a larger resort with camping, we were there on a weekend and there were lots of families, big crowd in the central area around the bar and food service areas created a fun environment. Beach towels provided. A little walk out of town and a few mile walk to Cathedral Cove.

Stayed in a condo on the beach! Great view of the beautiful beach and very short walk to the beach. Kitchen was well equipped for a small meal. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom could have used a bit better scrubbing. Great to have a washer and drier. Also some nice star gazing!

Lack of flexibility around check in/out. Shower head is very old and clogged with lime scale so only delivered a few very fine shoots of water, needs a good de-scale or replacement. Cabin is tiny and would not be suitable for larger people. Charging to borrow a spade for hot water beach is a bit much, I understand the need to have a deposit so the spades are returned but for what you pay for very basic accomodation, it wold be reasonable to have spades available to borrow.

Stunning location and good amenities at the resort. Cabin was clean and had everything we needed. Staff at the restaurant/bar and front desk were lovely.

You can’t tell how close you are to beach when booking. So we couldn’t hear the waves as expected. Everything on the resort is closed on tuesdays. No hot tubs, no bar, no restaurant, no live music. Everything is worn down.
