    Not a thing

The fact is that our room was given away to a large booking, i.e., a football team. And we were put out on the street at 10pm to try and find a place to stay. The manager didn't care a bit . And keep saying it's a booking com problem. And they shouldn't have taken a booking from us . We felt bullied by their behavior . Really upset my wife . They were very unprofessional and acted like ammiters.

Beds were comfy. Nice to have our own room and bathroom balcony was nice touch nice and sunny all day. Met the Manager in the morning which was really lovely and she helped with a pleasant attitude which made things warming in the morning. Extra blanket and also a heater provided.

No towels. The shower pole that holds the head is coming off the wall. A microwave would have been good. The price we paid was high for the room. And kitchen was closed so no meals. No receipt provided when asked until manager provided for me a written amount. Waited 10minutes for my cash back out if the bar.... could not follow due to child with me so had to wait.

    The Shower. Free parking. Location.

The WiFi kept cutting out or non existent. No coffee. No milk. Small cups. No tea towels or bathmat. Having to climb stairs with a suitcase as the lift didn't go far enough. No restaurant open when it said it had a restaurant when booking.

The location and the free parking were excellent. My room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. I also liked the "olde Worlde" atmosphere.

The wi-fi was sub-standard. I do understand that the hotel is under new management, but it will have to improve the quality of its service. Only one person approached me as I was about to check-in and was very solicitous, but he still made the comment that "you get what you pay for". Isn't it false advertising to say that breakfast is included in the price of the room when it wasn't served?

    Location in Wanganui

I was given the swipe card to the wrong room. There was no remote control for the TV in the room. The milk in the fridge had a skin on it indicating that it had been there for quite some time. Note that the light switch in the ensuite needs to be replaced. Thank you

We had 15 friends stay at the Grand Hotel staff were friendly, delicious meal we had booked a buffet dinner for 15 was served on time great waitress, chef was very polite and the karaoke after was amazing. We would all definitely stay there again. ☺ Manager of the Grand was awesome.

Too short should've booked another day.

    Location

Facilities were old, dirty, no coffee sachets only 2 tea bags. No face cloths. We refused to use the shower as we felt we could catch something bad due to how disgusting the shower is. The original room we were given was disgusting, so we asked for an upgrade and were happy to pay whatever, however the room we were shown was worse. The TV in the room wasn't going, so we have to set this up ourselves, only to find out there was no remote to operate it. We asked management 4 times to provide a remote without success. We were also told by locals that the Grand is used for emergency housing. Undesirables everywhere. AVOID THE GRAND. I WOULD RATHER STAY AT THE LOCAL DOG POUND THEN STAY HERE AGAIN.

The allure of a bygone era

Chaos over check-in. What I booked is not what the Grand Hotel thinks I booked. Key card did not work after 10pm due to some pathetic issue Place is rundown and in disarray. Doors kicked in, Winz residents brings the tone down

Friendly staff, comfortable bed and pretty good priced room

The lift was broken on the day and I was on the top floor so was a bit of a mission but saying that it was a Sunday so understandable that maintenance couldn't be done on the day.

I liked how it was in the middle of the city. Everything in walking distance loved that. Liked the room. Our floor was quiet and nice and we didn't hear anything from the bar downstairs which was great. This put a whole perspective on you get what you pay for.

Didn't like how we weren't advised theres no laundry facilities until I rang and asked. Didn't like getting locked out coz we weren't offered a swipe card to get back into the hotel. At 11am Sunday morning we had to call coz we were locked out the main entrance of the hotel, a guy with a swipe card let us in. No microwave or toaster either like most hotels have. Also need a bigger fridge for long staying guests.
