Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe wi-fi was sub-standard. I do understand that the hotel is under new management, but it will have to improve the quality of its service. Only one person approached me as I was about to check-in and was very solicitous, but he still made the comment that "you get what you pay for". Isn't it false advertising to say that breakfast is included in the price of the room when it wasn't served?
The location and the free parking were excellent. My room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. I also liked the "olde Worlde" atmosphere.

New ZealandI was given the swipe card to the wrong room. There was no remote control for the TV in the room. The milk in the fridge had a skin on it indicating that it had been there for quite some time. Note that the light switch in the ensuite needs to be replaced. Thank you

New ZealandThe balcony was shared with the room next door. The room was freezing and had to ask for a heater twice. No venting in the bathroom. Stains on the sheets. Not enough towels no hand towels. There were a few concerning people hanging around the carpark and hallways and following me and my daughter untill my husband spoke up he was walking in front us.
The view. The balcony. The staircase.

New ZealandThe room we had, it was unclear if it was a non smoking room. It smelt very much of stale cigarette smoke. Next time I would ask for a non smoking room .

New ZealandWe had to go downstairs 3 times to get the internet & tv sorted, plus get a face cloth. The next night when we got back our room had not been serviced. Had 2 go downstairs 2 times just to get some clean towels. Thank goodness we were fit and able as the lift was out of order.
Even though the place was older that didn't worry us. I like heritage buildings

AustraliaCouldn't check in 30 minutes before the official checkin time, even though we were apparently the only guests. No room airconditioning, no bathroom fan or ventilation, lift not working, no kettle in the room. TV worked only some of the time. Really, this hotel could do with some maintenance and upkeep.
Beautiful old building, tastefully restored and maintained. Great evening meal served in the irish pub. The location was perfect with off-street parking and close to CBD venues. Easy to find.

New ZealandThe fact is that our room was given away to a large booking, i.e., a football team. And we were put out on the street at 10pm to try and find a place to stay. The manager didn't care a bit . And keep saying it's a booking com problem. And they shouldn't have taken a booking from us . We felt bullied by their behavior . Really upset my wife . They were very unprofessional and acted like ammiters.

New ZealandNo towels. The shower pole that holds the head is coming off the wall. A microwave would have been good. The price we paid was high for the room. And kitchen was closed so no meals. No receipt provided when asked until manager provided for me a written amount. Waited 10minutes for my cash back out if the bar.... could not follow due to child with me so had to wait.
Beds were comfy. Nice to have our own room and bathroom balcony was nice touch nice and sunny all day. Met the Manager in the morning which was really lovely and she helped with a pleasant attitude which made things warming in the morning. Extra blanket and also a heater provided.
