This family run inn is a lovely place. There are rooms for both backpackers and more formal travelers. The common kitchen is lively and people share their experiences while cooking and eat in g together.

Wonderful place. Had the sea view room which was clean and comfortable but the view is spectacular. This is the second time we have stayed here and love it. We'll be back.

We loved our stay in the colonial style lodge with many authentic features. The garden is great with deck chairs, loungers and hammocks and only a few steps away from the beach. Everything is very clean and well equipped. The dishwasher makes a difference in a shared kitchen. You know that the dishes are clean! Our only regret is that we did not stay long enough.

Easy, quick check in. We were shown around and made familiar with facilities. Room was a good size for an overnight stay for 2 people. Toilets and showers were share but clean and tidy. Share kitchen also very clean and tidy. A beautiful older style building. The beach was directly across the road so was great for swimming. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore was quite relaxing. Great accommodation for young and young at heart travellers.

It was so refreshing to be in a most welcoming property, located immediately opposite the 90 mile beach. The whole vibe is relaxed and laid back, with a shoes off policy. We liked the garden environment, the fully equipped kitchen, outside seating on the front porch, and the very helpful hosts. One of favourite Booking.com sites to date in NZ!

I loved everything.

The historical home was beautiful. I loved everything, the key, the kitchen, outside the BBQ area, the coal range, clawfoot bath. It was clean and comfortable.

Really clean, comfortable beds, so nice being able to hear the beach from the room. Really nice kitchen which is kept really clean. Great outdoor dining area out the back underneath huge grapevines. Also really nice places to sit out the front to relax. Really friendly professional owner/staff. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful house next to the beach with ocean view. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Nice garden with hamocks, surf boards available. We totally recommend! Thanks to the host, Anna!

It was amazing! Everything was just great, the owners are lovely, super helpful and responded within minutes. We got there and instantly felt welcomed. It is such a lovely ambiente, with a cute garden and right next to the sea, which you can see from the house. All the facilities are clean and tidy and there is everything you need. You can also rent surfboards. I would definitely recommend staying there, I really loved it :)

Lack of time to spend here. Would love to spend a week. A mosquito screen on the window could be helpful. Perhaps there is no mosquito issue, but I kept the window closed to be safe, which made for a hot night in late summer. Alternatively a bed top sheet could help with this.

Only issue was that all the toilets were in the same room as the showers. As most rooms were upstairs and there was only one bathroom on the same floor, this was challenging.

Superb location opposite the wonderful beach. Property was very sympathetically restored and Blain was very helpful.

Rooms were very hot making it an uncomfortable sleep even with the window fully open.

Fantastic location if a bit remote. Rooms and facilities are very clean and tidy. Facilities are shared, but this made for a pleasant opportunity to mix and chat with other travelers.
