Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

If I was being the pickiest person in the world a soft mattress topper would be great

The perfect place to stay in the heart of Hanmer. A warm and cosy home away from home where everything has been thought of. Very grateful to have spent 3 nights here and have already booked to come back later this year.

There’s nothing I can think of.
Property is clean and tidy. My family had a lot of fun since the facility includes fun activity games. Will definitely go back and highly recommend this place!

you can't lock the main door from inside so my 3years old easily open door and walk out.
Everything was great. Beautiful house. Close to the pools. Coffee machine. Game room. Box with a toys so thoughtful. so clean. spacious.

It would have been good to have access to spare linen, and more loo roll as needed.
AMAZING property! Walking distance from everything we needed. Gorgeous home with modern and comfortable amenities. Games room was a massive bonus. We will 100% be back.

We could only stay for one night.
Fantastic place to stay. Close to the pools, shops and restaurants. Extremely tidy place, inside and out. Really comfortable beds and plenty of space in all rooms. A framed personalized welcome message on the kitchen counter was a really nice touch too. The games room was an added bonus, especially the retro arcade games. Our stay was a last minute decision on our way back from Christchurch to Nelson. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy the place for longer, but we'll surely be back.

Pretty cottage, everything we needed for a family stay with teenage boys. Clean and comfortable and spacious. Well appointed kitchen and laundry facilities. Owners were quick to communicate.

Beautifully presented property with everything you could possibly need for a trip away. We came in winter and the house had great heating options so we were very cosy. Kitchen had all the amenities you needed. The kids loved the games room. Very easy to keep clean and tidy.

The cottage did not have a barbeque/braai/grill.
We loved the living area, board games and the wonderful warmth of the cottage. The bathroom was spacious as was all the bedrooms. Wonderfully located within walking distance to forest walks, the pools and restaurants. We had our granddaughter with us and the house was well suited for her needs- 5 months old.

Cottage on Harrogate was amazing! The house was beautiful, well equipped, cosy and comfortable – we didn’t want to leave! The booking was easy, the communication with the owners fantastic and they accommodated our request for earlier check in - which made our stay perfect. We will definitely be back.
