How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Kitchen was dimly lit, the bulb in fan had blown making it even darker. Oven was not working. We pointed these two things out to management who were unaware and said they will be fixed. These are not criticisms, just observations.
Great location to the hospital where we were visiting family. Very comfortable beds, fantastic shower with great pressure and lots of hot water. Good supply of towels. Nicely decorated with a lovely bathroom. Very friendly staff who let us keep 2 cars on the premises, even for half the day after we had checked out so we could spend the time with our son in hospital before driving home.

Bed seemed to lack an electric blanket because control switch and entire power cord was hidden under the mattress. Found only on getting into bed. Could not get shower to warm up above blood heat though hand basin hot water performed perfectly. No instructions for heat pump microwave or clock radio alarm. Worked out best pump and that microwave model required clock to be set before it would cook. Clock radio alarm defeated me entirely and the black on black labelling and tied up cord did not help. Fi Fortunately I had my own alarm as most now do so suggest remove or supply one easy to start in a room where power goes off every time the room key is removed. Room met my expectations in other respects than these and I would be happy to return as the motel offers very good value for money.
Close to where I was visiting. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Room had almost all I wanted.

No kitchen sink in the unit, there's something I personally find gross about washing dishes in a bathroom sink. Also, no plug for the sink. Only stayed for 2 nights and didn't have a large amount of dishes anyway so not a big deal. Would definitely stay again. Enviro notice in the bathroom re: changing of towels, despite leaving ours hanging on the towel rail for reuse as only there for two nights they were removed and replaced with new ones. If it's done that way regardless, you need to remove the notices.
Size of the room was good, beds comfy and cleanliness was also excellent. Check in was easy, staff friendly. Perfect location for access to the event we were attending.

The lack of communication between the reception staff and the cleaners because on both my stays I was disturbed by the cleaners wanting to clean my room before I had a chance to check out I. think that was rude and unprofessional . possibly won't stay there again

The room had an interesting smell was a bit odd but otherwise it was fine.
Really accommodating we had a trailer and they were happy to accommodate that. They were friendly and efficient and it was a good location to walk for dinner. The entire property appeared clean and tidy.

Can't think of anything.
Excellent location right across road from the hospital where my husband had surgery, and we live in Wairarapa so needed to stay in Palmerston North. Loved the café Zest on premises, great coffee and food! I see it's also a favourite for nursing staff! Clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend to others who need accommodation near hospital.

Room 9 Air Con Heater on the wall couldn't get the heat setting working would switch of, Panel Heater cord had been cut an the wire was exposed it was a very cold night, Room 31 didn't bother trying as we brought our own heater after staying there the previous week an nothing worked in another room Lucky we had fan heater. We had 3 Rooms Booked originally as they were non refundable even booked a month out we only used 2 rooms, Exec Room was a kitchenette not keen on getting my water from the bathroom tap, No Electric Blanket Both Rooms

Just towels or though you could ring anytime to have towels brought over.very nice man on desk or call for service. They take care of their guests.
