Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandGreat location. Quite a bit outside of the Centre of Oban, but therefore quiet, exactly what we like. You need transport given the distance to the center, but the cars (available for small daily charge) provide that freedom and opportunity. Luxurous cabins. We had the bad luck that during our stay, the water pump broke down, meaning that our cabin didn’t have any running water during 3 out of our 4 days. However, the owner did everything to find solutions (helping us finding a place to shower and getting us drinking water), and compensated us very generously. Therefore, we highly recommend!

United StatesAn island-wide power outage that couldn’t be helped! It’s a good reminder to always travel with some extra food for an emergency meal!
The location, views, privacy and amenities, including a vehicle for touring the island. Our host was exceptional in all ways!

New ZealandNothing everything was great!
Exceptional service, Kath, Bill, and Joe, really did go above and beyond to make our stay a lovely experience. Joe was a great help on the first day helping us get ready for our hike and getting settled in Oban, and I cannot thank them enough for the loan of Bill's old hiking shoes (after I forgot mine!) to do the Rakiura Track, just great people really welcoming and so accomodating they made our stay a wonderful experience! The ability to rent your own car (one per cabin) for a very reasonable fee was a super add on. The property had a unique character lovely gardens and setting, the cabins were beautifully appointed and had everything we needed, lovely sitting on the deck with an awesome vista of Horseshoe bay!

United KingdomWhat a peaceful spot with the sounds of native birds twittering all around you. A friendly fantail and Kaka come to visit for a chat. Having the ability to use one of their cars was also a godsend and allowed you to explore more of the island. I would recommend this place to anyone wishing to stay on the island.

United StatesDespite wandering in my pajamas, with binoculars and a red covered flashlight, the kiwi birds did not come wander across my path. We should've booked a kiwi-spotting tour!
The location was a treat - you look off your porch into the forest - and the cabins were great. You are outside of town, but each guest cabin has a car available for their use (small extra charge for the days you use it) The kitchenette worked well for modest meals (lunch sandwiches, pasta dinner) Bill met us at the ferry, gave us a brief tour and time for a grocery stop. Good hiking advice too! Stewart Island is special and Anchorstone is lovely.

United StatesThe view from our cabin was absolutely beautiful of the beach. The host picked us up from the ferry and gave us a tour of the town which was very helpful in planning all of our activities. He also gave us great information on the history of the island. The setting was peaceful and lovely and the hosts were so gracious. We would definitely come back. If you can stay here... do!

United KingdomIt seems picky to mention anything negative about such a great place but bedside tables/cabinets would be useful. I'm not sure what you could do about it but it's a shame to lose so much space to a second (single) bed if you're not using it
We felt so well looked after right from Bill picking us up from the ferry, taking us on an informative and witty tour of Oban and surrounding areas, to settling us into the lodge. The lodge itself is excellent, with a huge comfortable bed, well stocked kitchen and a bathroom with a great shower! The car loan was ideal to get around and really appreciated. The lodge is in an incredible location, set in amazing gardens amongst trees, with views over Horseshoe Bay.
