New ZealandNot a fan of non contact check in and check out done by text messages. It is also mention from other guests about contactless check in/out and some are also not fans. We like to meet the host as it makes it a more personal stay. I did however met the manager briefly as she came on site to fill the spa. It was a great timing as the Heater on the wall was not good enough to heat the room .We were supplied another heater which did the job and then the wall heater was able to cope. No heater in the bathroom only heat lamps which did nothing. Ohakune is a cold environment and we are surprised that accomodation we have stayed in the past and this one does not have adequate heating.
Close to town and only a short drive to the mountain for skiing or sightseeing. It’s a small compact unit that is ok for one night but personally we would not want to stay any longer as it is a bit small. It was clean and had a great shower which is the reason we booked it based on the shower rating from other reviews. We hate places that have showers that are low pressure and not hot. This shower unit was good but you did need to adjust the temperature very slowly or it would be scolding hot or freezing cold. Once you found the correct setting it was good. Electric blanket was nice as the temperature plummeted overnight. Ohakune is not a cheap place to stay but we do understand it is seasonal so they have to make the most of the winter trade. It’s a great town and we will return next year in yet to be chosen accommodation.

New ZealandOn this occasion it was very cold outside with heavy frosts. We found the heating was not able to keep up with the cold. We should have requested a second heater. This is the only time we have had this issue.
We have used this property on a number of occasions driving between Wellington and Auckland. We find it to be perfectly sited for our break and close to restaurants etc. it is always good value

No staff onsite so just a key in a lock box. If a staff member was on site we probably would have complained about the state of the toilet.

New ZealandUnfortunately we didn’t have a great sleep. We found the bed quite hard and we were all woken by the volunteer fire alarm going off next door at 1:45am for a really quite a long time. We also found it a bit odd that we didn’t see anyone at reception at all, even tho we arrived before 4pm on a Friday afternoon. All the communication was done by text and the key was left in a lockbox, which was fine of course, but had we had any questions like recommendations on where to eat or things to do it might’ve been nice to have seen someone.
It was clean and tidy and easy to access. There was a carpark available.
