Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The location just outside the city centre was quiet but 10 minutes walk took us into the centre city. The hosts were excellent. Friendly, yet efficient, attentive yet not intrusive. We’ve stayed there before and we’ll stay there again.

We loved everything about Ah House, the location, the accommodation and more importantly, the hosts. The location was ideal, we could walk to the main city centre, gardens etc.

Mark and John are amazing hosts making you feel like you’re staying with friends. The room is well appointed and lovely, the patio beautiful & the breakfast is delicious. They love what they do & it shows. Our stay was exceptional, a highlight in a country full of memorable experiences.

Everything was superb.
Very warm welcome by Mark and John, very considerate, kind and helpful in every way. Lots of helpful suggestions for restaurants and for onward travel. Lovely garden, we really enjoyed a garden with John. Accommodation very comfortable, very attractive, great beds and good towels/ bed linen ( these things matter.) Superb cooked breakfast, Mark and John are very interesting and have a beautiful house. We enjoyed every moment, from arriving to leaving.

Breakfast was very tasty. Location was ideal - situated in a quiet neighbourhood with short walk to restaurants and pedestrian street with lovely stores. The hosts are very attentive - they have thought of everything.

The accommodation was full of surprises. For us as a couple, it was a place where we could taste a slice of heaven. Mark was incredibly kind and helpful. Don’t forget to try the wine as well! Mark, visit to KOREA~!!!:)

This was my second time staying at Ah House and I was expecting first class accommodation, which was great! I now have stayed in both the apartment and the garden rooms. Delightful!!

The only issue I had being a person with disabilities, is that could have done with having a hand rail to step on to the steps to the garden room.
The hosts are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. They kept checking whether there was anything we needed in our room. We especially liked the fact that we could sit in the garden outside our room after a day of sightseeing. The rooms are beautifully decorated. We would happily return to this accommodation in the future.

Mark & John are fabulous hosts, they made us feel so welcome. The accommodation is wonderful, and has been thoughtfully decorated. Cooked breakfast every morning, assistance with planning to make the most of our time, amazing gardens. We would stay here again next time we are in Nelson.

Beautiful well-appointed spaces with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Amazing hosts - welcoming, thoughtful, excellent local knowledge and genuinely nice guys. Breakfasts were delish & it was nice to chat to other guests over a morning coffee. Thanks again for your hospitality x

I cant say enough good things about Ah house. Mark and John are the best. They provide everything you need and make you feel at home. The breakfast they provide is great, the room is comfortable, shower is nice and big, everything is clean and well kept, their yard/garden is beautiful, and restaurants and shops are walking distance. If I were to return to Nelson in the future, I would absolutely stay here again.

The garden rooms were amazing. Breakfasts were first rate. Our hosts couldn't do enough for us. Beautiful house and garden, and we were made to feel very welcome. Well exceeded expectations, would thoroughly recommend staying here.

There is nothing we can think of. Please be aware that the garden apartment has a camping-toilet as pointed out in the room description.
This is the most lovely accommodation with super-friedly hosts, making you feel really at home. Within walking distance to city center. Super-service orientated hosts organize anything you need to make you feel comfortable.
