How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe hotel staff were exceptionally kind—more like family than just employees. They took care of every concern with genuine care and even provided excellent courtesy transportation. The dining area is beautifully located, offering a stunning view of the entire city. Overall, staying at this hotel truly felt like being at home.
While it may have been a matter of timing and the season, there was significant road construction during my stay, which made transportation a bit challenging. That’s the only reason I’m giving a 9 out of 10. However, once the construction is complete, this will definitely be my go-to place every time I visit Nepal. The location is truly ideal—close to nature, peaceful, and free from noise and pollution.

Verified reviewI have stayed in many hotels in Kathmandu in my previous visits, but Hotel Sherpani is the best three star hotel i have found in terms of the facilities and everything hotel has. It was also interesting how long history has the hotel establishment in Nepal's tourism.
The rooms were absolutely clean, sound proof and the location was access was very easy. They serve great foods on their rooftop restaurant from where 360 degree of Katmandou could be viewed. I have asked the hotel to keep reservation for me next visit. They had also a rooftop restaurant and bar with a French Name "La Céline" which i really liked.
Dear guest, Thank you for your review. We are happy that you had a nice stay in Hotel Sherpani and look forward to welcoming you again.

Verified reviewThe staff was courteous and attentive, calling us three times to ensure we had eaten — a thoughtful gesture that didn’t go unnoticed. Additionally, the room was spacious, which made our stay more comfortable.
I recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. The access road to the property was in poor condition, which made arrival a bit difficult. The room itself had several issues: the bed was uncomfortably small, and the bathroom lacked a lock — something I’ve never encountered before in any hotel stay. There were no labels on the provided toiletries, leaving us unsure which was shampoo or conditioner. Despite the room description mentioning a mini bar, there wasn’t one present. The dining experience was also disappointing. We placed our order around 9:00 PM, but the food didn't arrive until 10:15 PM, and it was cold by the time it reached our table. To add to this, the corridor on our floor was completely dark, as no lights had been turned on — a safety and comfort concern, especially at night. While I appreciate the staff’s efforts, I hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary improvements. This property has potential, but attention to detail and guest comfort needs to be prioritized.
Dear Guest, Thank you for your review that we appreciate and apologies for some inconvenience you experience during your arrival, because by that time there were some road maintenance going which made your access some inconvenience, but now it is completely finished and easiest access of all hotels around Boudha area hotels. For the bed, other guests were saying it was very comfortable and we tried to make it comfortable as we can and as for the size, it is even slightly bigger than the standard size, because European sizes are bigger than the Asian. As for the toilet lock, it is not a big deal for us to put a lock, but we had some safety issue in other toilets with locks, so the one you used didn't have a lock, but we will do a research and more feedback which one is better, and we follow accordingly. For your other points, after verification of the room and toilet you used, there were clearly marked which one is shampoo and which one is a shower gel, so you should not have confused! Other points, we have well noted! Normally it is not at all like the way you experienced, but we will definitely find out if anything went wrong like the way you mentioned during your stay. Normally do not have such cases at all, because we are very aware of the hospitality. Anyway, we look forward to welcoming you again and definitely, you will not have such experience again!

Verified reviewHotel HOTEL SHERPANI has a perfect location within walking distance to Kathmandu’s main attractions. There are also large supermarkets nearby where you can buy everything you need, including gear for mountain trekking. The rooms are clean and spacious, featuring comfortable beds, balconies, recreation areas, and writing desks. The showers are convenient and roomy, with hot water always available. The Wi-Fi works excellently throughout the entire hotel premises. The hotel receptionist and staff are exceptionally friendly, attentive, and responsive! In any situation, you can rely on Mr. Vincenzo, who seems capable of solving any problem! It is worth noting that the hotel building is one of the tallest in Kathmandu. On the top floor, there is a wonderful restaurant with both open and enclosed verandas, where you can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the city, watch planes taking off and landing, admire architectural details, and if it rains, you can always take shelter in the enclosed part with panoramic windows. We will definitely return again and recommend this hotel to our friends! A special thanks to Mr. Vincenzo and the receptionist Alisha Rai for the warm welcome and invaluable help in resolving issues with a suddenly malfunctioning bank card! See you again, HOTEL SHERPANI!

Verified reviewWe had a pleasant stay with big, spacious rooms that were very comfortable. The place is conveniently located close to popular spots like the stupa, which made sightseeing easy. Breakfast was tasty and satisfying. The staff were really friendly and always ready to help. On our last day, a protest was happening so it was really difficult to get a cab to the airport, but the staff helped us figure out a solution, and the owner kindly drove us to the airport. Definitely recommend this place!

Verified reviewHotel Sherpani exceeded all my expectations — a true sanctuary tucked away in the peaceful neighborhood of Tinchuli, just a short stroll from the majestic Boudhanath Stupa. The hotel strikes a perfect balance between modern comfort and traditional charm, with a design that feels both inviting and refined. I stayed in one of their well-appointed rooms, which was impeccably clean, spacious, and thoughtfully furnished. Every detail—from the cozy bedding to the reliable hot showers and strong WiFi—made it clear that guest comfort is a top priority. The rooftop restaurant quickly became my favorite spot, offering not only delicious meals but also breathtaking panoramic views and a calm atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a day out. What truly sets Hotel Sherpani apart is its people. The warm, attentive family that runs it, along with the courteous staff, create an environment that feels more like a welcoming home than a hotel. Whether you're a trekker preparing for the mountains or a traveler exploring the spiritual heart of Kathmandu, this place is a perfect fit. I can’t recommend Hotel Sherpani enough—it's a peaceful haven with heart. I’ll definitely be back!

Verified reviewThey had very clean room, good location because it is only about 14 minutes walk to the famous Boudhnath stupa, and amazing rooftop view and everything they had was really worthy. Especially the host speaks French, so it was very convenient for me exchanging communication to each other.

Verified reviewI had a fantastic stay at Hotel Sherpani which is an immaculate, brand-new hotel in Tinchuli, just a short walk from Boudhanath Stupa. With a cozy lodge-like feel but far more luxurious, it offers diverse accommodations, including spacious two-bedroom suites. The rooftop restaurant boasts stunning views and a relaxed ambiance. Despite being there during the soft opening, all amenities worked flawlessly—hot showers, heat, power, and WiFi. The friendly, attentive family owners and staff make the stay even more special. Perfect for trekkers and travelers alike, this hotel is a gem in Kathmandu. Highly recommended!
