I understand that the hotel is a great venue for events, but unfortunately that means the pool isn’t always accessible to guests during those times, and it can get a bit loud in the evenings. Thankfully, this only happened twice during my one-week stay.

Hotel Himalaya is a well-established and well-known hotel, but this was my first time staying there despite visiting Nepal frequently. It truly feels like an oasis — calm, with a lovely garden and a peaceful atmosphere. The location is great: walking distance to Patan and pleasant for walking around in general. The suite was nice, the pool was clean, and the staff were amazing — friendly and welcoming. I felt at home instantly. It’s the perfect place to relax. Room service was good, and while I didn’t try the buffet breakfast, the in-room breakfast and dinners were both very good.

Some rooms are very dated and run down. Not the photos you see online when booking. I think misleading. Multiple options for each room type may reflect this but the differences aren’t described.

Guests cannot use the pool if there is a wedding taking place at the hotel and there is a lot of weddings.

Laundry was expensive compared to other places in Kathmandu. 100NPR for one pair of underwear to be cleaned. And then the laundry was mixed up. I received someone else's shirt. My roommate lost two pairs of underwear. The bathrooms were rundown and had evidence of mold. Beware of the powerpoints, as some spark as you insert your plug. And some powerpoints are not very tight and secure, some plugs were pretty much hanging half in and half out.

For breakfast, we had a lovely variety of food and drinks. The staff was quite attentive. The bedroom section of the room was quite large. The outside area was very nice to sit and do work. And the sitting area in the lobby was calming and relaxing.

Some of the wall plugs did not work, and had some sparks which made us feel worried.

I loved the breakfast buffet, the space in the lobby, outside seating was nice, especially in the sun. The beds were comfortable. I enjoyed housekeeping making our beds every day and offered fresh towels whenever we needed. The staff were exceptional!

There was a little construction going on but not that it impacted our stay.

The hotel was quiet and accessible to booked tours. The room and public spaces were clean. The staff were courteous and accommodating.

The hotel is located at a great neighborhood with plenty of little cafes. What I loved was that one can walk to Patan Durbar Square! The rooms are big and comfortable. Special shout out to the staff who gave us the right advice for travel around the city and were always prompt when asked for any help.

Response of house keeping staff didn’t meet the expectations. After requesting for house keeping staff, average time of waiting is more that 30 minutes. Sometimes need to call again and again…
