Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyNo elevator in the old part of the building. So you have to carry your luggage up and down.
Traditional hotel renovated to very good standard. Restaurant has good food. Sand beach is 200m away. Supermarket also close. Hint: Ask for a room in the old part of the hotel (rooms are renovated and really beautiful)

NetherlandsAs it was exceptional warm, it would have been very nice to have dinner outside. There is a very nice pub-restaurant, linked to the hotel but this kitchen already closes at 19 hrs. The idea is that from then on, the inside hotel-restaurant is open. Missed opportunity to be customer-focussed. Company focus became priority, many customers were very disappointed and staff got stressed as ordering a desert was no longer possible as it was after 19 hrs...
Lovely apartment in main building, nicely decorated, clean and with a wonderful terrace overviewing the harbour. Windows are very well isolating so no disturbance at all from the hotel's pub, which closes around 10 PM. Practical: fridge in the room and a professional Nespresso coffee machine. Lovely garden.

AustraliaTrainee receptionist and breakfast wait staff could use further training and a more pleasant demeanour.
Our room was situated in the older part of the hotel and had been beautifully renovated. Although there was not an elevator to the top floor, the room was certainly worth it. There was a lovely private balcony with two large cane chairs, perfect for an afternoon drink looking down the fjord. Excellent breakfast!

United KingdomThe area around the hotel is lacking in restaurants so we booked to eat in the hotel. The receptionist ( a young man) was on phone when I went to asked about booking a time slot, after what seemed like 10 minutes he asked what he could help with. I said I wanted to book the restaurant, he proceeded to point me in the direction of the restaurant to book. The restaurant was manned by two young men, we booked for 8.30. At 8.30 we arrived for dinner, one of the young waiters pointed to a table across the room ( pointed not showed us to the table ) then when we sat down he put the menus down, then proceeded to come back less than a minute later and asked us if we had chosen, no drink menu was offered, we were not asked if we wanted drinks. We felt like we were not welcome in the restaurant and left. The only place we Could find open was a pizza cafe which was about to close, but he kindly made us a pizza. This did not completely ruin our experience at the hotel, we spent the evening sitting by the water. I mentioned our experience at reception on checking out she was very apologetic.
The hotel was clean comfortable and great value for money. The location was great and we were given a room with patio door on to a lawn overlooking the lake. Most of the staff were helpful and polite. The reception has a coffee machine with free coffee and tea. Breakfast was excellent. A lovely looking hotel with a great atmosphere.

United KingdomThis is a lovely historic hotel with really beautiful public areas. My room was in the newer part of the hotel and I was really pleased to have a view of the fjord, which I hadn't expected! There are various beautiful areas to relax in, both indoors and outdoors, right by the water. I was very happy with my room, which was large and beautifully decorated. There was a nice tea tray, iron and umbrella! The bathroom was also very modern, large and spacious. I didn't have an evening meal, but breakfast at the hotel was really excellent. There was a huge selection of cereals, fruits, breads, pancakes, cooked items, everything you might want. I only stayed for one night at this hotel but I wish I could have stayed longer. Its definitely a place to return to.

NetherlandsThe coffee machine was leaking. At dinner the starter was amazing, but the rest of the food was lacking a bit of taste so we felt it was overpriced.
The personnel in the lobby was very friendly. The old part of the hotel is beautiful, the new part does not really fit to the old part. The room was large and simple, but had everything we needed.

ItalyThe room was not perfectly isolated. We could hear the traffic noise from the street. In our room The soap dispenser is on the opposite side of the sink which is a nuisance. A small fridge is available. The breakfast experience was almost traumatic with the amount of people at the same moment. A long queue to get some coffee. Coffee machine with capsules was not obvious to use, if not familiar. Unfortunately no explanation in other languages...

United StatesThe town is very small with only a couple of restaurants. Chinese food restaurant nextdoor was terrible and the staff incredibly rude, avoid at all costs. The thai restaurant, alternatively, was delicious!
Our 2-bedroom apartment was in the new building and had gorgeous views of Norheimsund and the fjord. Free parking right next to the building. The breakfast buffet was an impressive spread of various hot and cold items. We also appreciated the espresso machine in the lobby. Highly recommend the rib boat tour and a swim in the fjord at the little beach/swimming dock a block away.
