How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThere was trouble when I checked out (my laundry service was overcharged by mistake. It was also my fault because I didn't check the price before paying). A quick refund was difficult as I already left the country. Even in that difficult situation, staff took care of this very carefully and patiently. In the end, a refund was successfully made. I really appreciate their patience and response.

The pillows smelled horribly bad, i couldn’t even sleep because of that unpleasant odor. The room itself is also worn out and doesn’t feel clean at all. Would not stay again despite good location.

Verified reviewI had a king room with wharf view. It was a great location not far from the Main Street and right on the wharf area. It was quiet at night and the bed wasn’t too soft or hard. The dinner and breakfast buffets were amazing. Check in efficient and easy. You can control heating temp and also open the window.

Super hot! Couldn't even stay inside the room during day time (from 12:00 to 17:00. They are aware that customers cannot stand the heat but they don't have plan to have a good ventilation. The staff from the frontdesk did mentiom that the city is hot only for 45 - 60 days and theu don't have plan to install any air-conditions. Very disappointing.

Verified reviewBreakfast was excellent, it closes a bit early though if you’re on holiday and don’t want to get out of bed too early to make it to breakfast. The selection of food was always really good and fresh. A barista makes you any coffee you want! Location is excellent, short distance to anything in town.
You can choose how much cleaning you would like in the room which is great, however we stayed for 4 nights and booked one cleaning in the middle as we figured we wouldn’t need anymore but the room was not cleaned what so ever that day. Someone had been in the room cause they had taken the keycard out of the keycard holder but nothing else was done in the room. Something bit me during the night in the bed and I don’t think it was mosquitoes as the window was closed all night. I don’t want to say it was bedbugs cause we didn’t find any signs of them in the bed or on the mattress but I would be very careful with keeping luggage away from the bed jic. We had a city view with a little bit of the fjord which was nice but it was also overlooking the carpark where there is city parking for motorcycles and touristbuses pulling up often in the morning idling outside for ages. There is also a pub with outside service until late. We didn’t have AC in the room and because it is summer the room got pretty warm but with the noice outside it was hard to get any sleep with the window open. I def recommend asking for a room that doesn’t face the front of the hotel if you’re staying during summer. Probably not a problem during winter as it will be too cold to keep the window open anyway and it kept noice out well when it was closed. Overall the stay was fine. Breakfast was a highlight and the staff was nice. The bites is def a concern and put a damper on the stay and the holiday. We didn’t ask to change rooms because we couldn’t be sure of the cause of the bites. My partner got none and I react badly to insect bites in general. I was also worried they would stick us in a room that was worse then the one we were in.

Verified reviewThe hotel is in an excellent location. Close to the city center, restaurants, and shops. Parking is available at the hotel, and payment is easy using EasyPark. Friendly and helpful hotel staff, and check-in is quick. Rooms are clean and well-equipped. Breakfast is excellent and varied. Restaurant on site. We highly recommend it.

The room was not clean enough (especially the shower) and there was nothing to make our stay more comfortable. No bathrobe, no slippers, no coffee machine, just a kettle dirty with mold, nothing in the minibar (our room was not expensive enough apparently to have some drinks in the minibar). The hotel is a four stars. I don't think this is Scandic standard.

Nothing. Very neccessary to book parking lot in advance - limited parking capacity. Be careful when you park on some of the public parking - always pay even when you park there just for check-in (5 minutes). The local police is very quick and you will be fined if you don't pay.
