Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayCould not find any faults.
A perfect, historic place, run by the same family in four generations. Beautiful location, a wealth of art on the walls. Exceptional quality of the four-course dinner.

United StatesBeautiful inn with a rich family history. Room was very comfortable, and peaceful with lovely decor. Art throughout the inn and in a desperate gallery. Amazing dinner made from local ingredients. Staff was very accommodating and friendly.

United StatesIf I had to choose something, I would say the rooms were small. Cozy, but small. This had little to no effect upon our stay however and we would come back again anytime.
The breakfast was simple and good. The location allowed for several days of exploration and was beautiful in itself. What really makes this hotel is the staff, particularly the owner who is an outstanding chef and Leo who is from southern Spain whose personality and dedication are a rare treasure.

United StatesThis is a beautiful and historic property. This was our best evening meal in Norway - it was delicious and reasonably priced. The owner of the property was the chef and welcomed us to the property and provided a little history on the property in an informative and charming way. The staff was friendly and helpful; we had been caught in the rain earlier in the day and the desk clerk offered to dry our clothes at no additional cost.

NorwayThe bed was a bit too soft (I had a bad back after the long drive)
The 4 course dinner was wonderful and I loved the poem that was told as part of the introduction to the meal. I like the concept of a single seating with a delicious fixed menu and wine package. The view is of course fantastic and the staff were all very friendly.

NorwayNothing special comes to mind.
It was a good experience at the Norwegian historical hotel having a lot of paintings and a beautiful garden. The dinner was excellent and the breakfast was fresh. All the staff are kind and have good parking lots. I'd highly recommend this place and I wish to come back.

United StatesThe stay was amazing. My only complaint is that our schedule didn't allow us to have more time here. I would definitely come back again at another time.
This is a cute little guest house in a picturesque mountain town. The area has a lot of history, and this location has been a functioning guest house for decades, run by the family for 5 generations. Staff is friendly and the food is amazing.

NorwayThe four course dinner was delicious and beautifully presented! Ellen, the owner, told us the interesting history about the area before dinner. The next day she gave us a tour of the parsonage and chapel, which had been her childhood home. She made our stay so personal and special. It was a rainy fall day outside but inside it was cozy and we were able to sit by the fire for a relaxing morning.

NorwayWhen we arrived late in the evening, it was dark and raining, and we were unsure how to find the Chalet in the dark. The staff did not offer to guide us there. He clearly didnt want to go out and get wet, and instead tried to convince us to book a room in the house instead. The lighting was so bad outside that we had to drive a few rounds to find the chalet. Would've appriacted it if the staff of this premium price property would take his umbrella and torch light to show us. Superior breakfast wasnt superior at all. Infact it was quite disappointing. I dont know what normal people expect when you hear superior. But what we got was bread and some jams. That's basically it. I asked the waiter to make bacon and eggs. He did. but clearly not a trained chef. I can tell you what I expect when I hear superior: English breakfast, champagne, barista level coffee, warm food menu and pastries.
Amazing experience to live in an old timber cottage. You get a feeling of old Norway here.

United KingdomFood was very expensive, drinks were off the scale expensive and it was not clear whether they were included in the meal price although they were pushed hard by staff during the 4 course menu. No drinks facilities in the room and after long drive to get to the property we even had to pay for coffee on arrival. It may be a very interesting and pleasant experience but boy do you pay through the nose for it. One night in a small room with a meal - £375.00. Unfortunately, not much else in the area so if you need to stay here as a traveller on a budget, be prepared, bring your own food and drink!
Food was absolutely delicious. Location was great, with fantastic views from some rooms. Staff were lovely and very helpful. It was a lovely traditional and very beautiful Norwegian guest house. An interesting and enjoyable experience.
