I had a great stay at The Elephant Hostel in Amsterdam. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, the place was clean, and the decoration was beautiful. It’s also very well located, close to many famous spots in the city. Definitely a place I would recommend!

There was little bit congestion as it was 24-bed dorm. The storage closet in the dorm although quite secure with keycard access was quite small, it’s only meant for people who travel with just one backpack, so I had a little trouble there but because the dorm was quite safe, so there was no bother keeping it outside. Moreover, the hostel definitely was an expensive one for me, in that range I would expect complimentary toiletries which weren’t provided or complimentary luggage storage facility which was paid too and definitely costly.

This was the best stay I could have asked for -for my first visit to Amsterdam. The location was great, tram ran right in front of the hostel. The people were really nice, both at the reception as well as the caretaking staff. The beds were nice and private, it was safe and secure, people in the dorm were also nice and welcoming. The amenities were adequate especially in the washroom, always stacked with necessities. They also offered complimentary first drink on arrival. I enjoyed my stay here which in fact was a long stay.

The bed size but that’s more down to me being 6’2 more than the hostel itself, if I were a lil shorter I wouldn’t have had an issue

There was no elevator to the reception and my dorm, which is something to note for solo traveler with heavy luggages.

The dorm and the bathroom was extremely clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The staffs were friendly and helpful.

Being wood box bunks, they can transmit noise if someone knocks the wood sides.

Great location, half hour walk from Centraal station, tram stop right outside though. The tram stop does make it extraordinary easy to get to Schiphol airport. Lovely old house with a crazy beautiful reception, it has to be seen to be believed. The dormitories are cleverly designed so you don’t realise how many people are in the large room. Wooden box bunks, some dormitories have huge windows to the street. Squeaky clean and for a hostel luxury toilets/showers, spacious and all over the decor is just lush. Ferocious air conditioning during the day but much lower but not enough to be stuffy at night. WiFi is fast and reliable. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

The sofa bed was very hard but was ok.

We liked it was a bit out of the main town but still very accessible on the No14 tram.

Rooms have too many beds, so it's very noisy all the time because people always come and go. You need to pay if you want to leave your luggage after.

Lovely hostel for short stays and solo travelers. Friendly staff, clean surfaces, nice bathrooms and showers in the room. Very nice location too. The place itself is nicely decorated.

There was an older individual behind the counter that was rude and short to my daughter, it affected what was an enjoyable stay, minor consideration was a housekeeping issue, the area under the foldup bed was unswept and unclean and the provided linen appeared unwashed.

I liked the location away from city center, it was quiet, one tram ride from Centraal Station or an easy stroll. My daughter and I enjoyed the layout of the room - loft with foldup bed.

Room was a little stuffy though there was an A/C.

The staff very friendly and helpful. Location a quick tram ride (14) or a nice walk to everything. The beautiful renovated building with a gorgeous communal sitting area. Our twin room was very modern, quiet and beds were comfy.

Very nice, clean and organized! The staff was super friendly and nice to us! Really liked the stay. The region is awesome, very close to a Tram stop. Plenty of coffees and restaurants in the region, as well as the botanic garden and Artis! loved it

The downside was i guess that we had to share one bathroom with 2 dorms (in total 18 females). It wasn’t super uncomfortable but still something to consider. Also the bathroom and bedroom lights were a bit dimmed, so doing makeup can be a bit challenging.

The hostel was very modern, clean and new. Everything was very modern there and comfortable, from social area to dorms and bathrooms.

The place was absolutely spotless, I have never stayed in a hostel before and was more than impressed I just hope all in the future are as nice as this with such helpful staff!

Very friendly and helpful staff. You have keys to enter the hostel, the room and open your locker, which is super convenient. There were enough showers and WC for the 16 people in the room. The beds were very confortable and had a private curtain.
