Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI found it unusual that a hostel didn't have a kitchen and none of the rooms had a kettle or any way to make a coffee without paying €3.60 for a coffee from their bar. As a disabled guest I found access tricky. I'm not a wheelchair user but I have severe asthma and the steps up to the property were steep and lots of them.
Loved the room we stayed in, it was the Marines room. My children were in love with it. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The place was clean we had an ensuite room and the shower was warm and powerful. The beds were really comfy and they even gave you a nice shower gel on each bed. It felt very safe which was great considering I was traveling with young children.

MauritiusA bit noisy next to the street. Small room for 4, so (small) luggage fills it quickly. Matress quite thin. Price seems a bit high for a very basic room.
Original experience to stay in the Kijk Kubus. Nice staff. Room and shower clean.

Central location and proximity to major attractions. The building itself is iconic and impressive. Cheerful staff. Bike rental service that has to be booked online first. Affordable rate.

United KingdomIt was hot when we stayed and the room was unbearable. There was a small evaporator fan which didn’t really help unfortunately. We didn’t complain as the weather was unusually warm.
Location was very central and easy to access. Loved the bar area and pool table where we enjoyed the evening with family. Comfy mattress and clean bedding

NetherlandsVery uncomfortable shower. Water flows directly to the floor. And the sink where you can wash and brush your teeth is metal and is located in the hallway of the room. Which means that it can wake up everyone in the room. And WiFi does not work on the third floor. But for this price, it is not a big inconvenience. I think that if this hostel would make the rooms more comfortable, I would gladly pay more money to stay there. Because the location in the center of the city, the proximity to the metro, the extraordinary view of the building, the views of the city from this hostel... Everything is very nice!
It is right in the city center. Very close to the metro and the Mall, where you can eat, and the building itself is a historical monument of architecture. The breakfast is very good, and lasts quite a long time. Comfortable bed, friendly staff. Very clean and pleasant to be in this hostel.

NetherlandsA bit narrow, the interesting external architecture becomes dysfunctional from the inside. Minimal services for the basic price.
Great location, cheaper compared to other similar options, architecture is interesting to say the least! Information provided on the website was accurate (except that we couldn't see the exact room we booked)

United StatesThere was a huge group of teenagers with their chaperones staying while I was there so it was very loud in the common areas. I was able to take a wine out to a small deck to get some peace. However my room was quiet for sleeping.
This place is an architectural marvel and people were wandering around taking photos all the time. Many did not realise they could stay here although the Stayokay is a hostel so may not appeal to many of them. I requested and was granted a low bed as I would not be able to get into an upper bunk. I shared the 2 bunk bed female room with just one other gal and we had our own bathroom in the room. We did have drapes on the windows. Bed was very comfy with a light. There was a cubby to store my backpack. I think there are lockers available if needed. Downstairs was a bar and a big breakfast room plus some loungy areas inside and out. Breakfast was basic but adequate, Luggage storage is available. There is an elevator. It was everything I needed for my one night stay and a good price. I walked most places in the city and used the tram. The train station Blaak is right next to the Cube Houses as is the beautiful big Market Hall.

Hong KongThough the building is cool, the interior space is a bit awkward. But of course it’s not the hostels fault. If there could be usb charging, it would be better.

SpainWe only got one key for the room (despite being 4 people) so it made it kind of difficult to move around. The beds weren't the best and having two make your own bed and then having to pull the sheets off was slightly annoying, but it wasn't that bad.
It had a great location, everything was nearby and it was very easy to move from and to the apartment. Not to mention that there are many points of access to get to the front door, so you don't have to waste time walking around. There was also a lot of space for storage which is always appreciated. The breakfast was also quite nice, it was simple but filling.
