How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Not so much "didn't like", rather than a word of advice in case you are a bad sleeper: the house is old, with wooden structure / walls etc. If someone slams the door elsewhere in the building -- you will hear it. To me this didn't take away from the vibe, and again, this is probably a 100+ year old building, so it's a feature, not a bug.
Cozy room, cozy breakfast, the whole place was cozy overall, very nice host, I could secure my bicycle overnight. The location of the place is very good, about a stone throw away from the dunes of Schiermonikoog (although I venture to say all places in Schiermonikoog are like this :))

The rooms were clean and comfortable. But also the staff was very helpful! We forgot some stuff which is why we called them. They collected all our stuff without hesitation.

There was no heating in bathroom so it was a quick run from the shower to the bed :D.
We booked Pension Westerburen mainly because of location but it was a lot more: wonderful staff, great little room, warm bed. Breakfast was enough for us and we appreciated the "special beer" selection in the fridge. We had rented bikes already at the ferry harbour, so getting around was easy, but it would´ve been so even by foot as the pension is located in the village.

The walls are paper-thin, you can hear all the noises inside the property. The rooms are vibeless. Breakfast is pretty simple and lacks variety (vegetables for example)
I like the location and that you can use the facilities (not the rooms) before check in and after check out

What did we like? Everything.....seriously! We travel a lot and we are not the kind of people that are impressed by ostentatious displays that don't go very deep.. We like simple, clean, thoughtful, welcoming places that just do a good job at delivering quality. And this place does just that. Absolutely! Comfortable, clean, interestingly decorated, lovely linens and towels, great breakfast, and couldn't be more conveniently situated. We have been visiting the island for about 15 years and have stayed in many different places, but this is our new favorite. And to top it all, the owners are the sweetest kindest folks you could wish to meet. Check it out. You will be delighted. As we were.

The stuff is friendly in the Frisian way, it means no yakketi-yack and unnecessary chin music. Beds and furniture are plain and comfortable, explanations will be two syllabic and comprehensible. Bathroom fitment is nothing special but functional. Everything is neat and fresh. The garret rooms ain't hot even though at the time I visited it was quite torrid outside. About the degree of their beds' comfort nothing can I say as I'm extremely unpretentious in this regard. Anything that is not flint hard or jelly soft is comfortable for me. I suppose it's just good if I'm not bleating about it.

Location, spotless clean and very warm welcome.
Simple and clean absolutely straightforward and what you would expect based on the reviews and pictures. The real value for money no frills but comfortable.

The place is very old and it shows in the curtains, carpets, and decor. Payments are only possible in cash, which is a little odd in the Netherlands these days. The beds were quite uncomfortable, very small, and much too soft. While it was not an expensive stay, it does not feel like great value for money, especially because it was off-season.
The staff was very nice and helpful. The location of the pension is quite central, the bus also stops right in front of the door when you come from the ferry. The breakfast is good.
