How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The original room was great. It was an upgrade from what I originally booked. However I booked for twin beds. I complained and got a new room with twin beds. THIS ROOM STANK and it was a lot smaller. I went back to the front desk and got my original room back. The bed problem was fixed by supplying 2 single sheets to the big king size bed. However even in this room (suite) there was a bad smell in the bathroom. The easy fix was to add water to the bath and shower, to close off the siphon-trap from the sewage smell. This should be standard practice by the staff every time a room is cleaned. The siphons dry up when not used, and especially after a period of hot dry weather. I recommend adding 'fill siphons' to cleaning checklist to solve the 'stinky' problem. What worries me is that the front desk was aware of the smell problem. It was a common complaint.
The room was great. It was a major upgrade from what I originally booked so I shouldn't complain. Breakfast was good too. I missed having bacon with my eggs, but there was more than enough choice in food.

Had to wait about an hour and a half to get our room, after the indicated check-in time (15:00). If I wouldn’t have bothered the reception team regularly, it might have been even longer. At some point, around 16:20, one of the reception staff berated me for not having patience. I wouldn’t call that customer friendly behaviour. When we finally got the room keys (16:30), and entered the room, we found out that the trash bins had not been emptied, but we were very tired to take up another battle at that time. The rest of the room seemed (hopefully) very clean.
Spacious room, well equipped, very comfortable beds, nice bathroom. The hotel is in the vicinity of the train station and the city center.

I loved the location next to the Central Train Station, large shopping mall, and the tram/bus station. The room was very clean. The hotel is older, so the floors showed some weathering, but we didn't mind it.

bed sheets were not in good condition.
the room is modern with a long desk and a nice bed. The view facing north was nice and good to avoid overheat as it was 30 degrees outside.

Room was not made up if you didn't leave before 10am. Where it was cleaned, tea and coffee not replenished.
Clean and well appointed room with selection of English language channels on TV. Excellent location for train and only 15 min walk into town.

Was expensive compared to nearby 4 stars luxury hotel closer to city center with good parking, NH mentioned they have parking but when arrived they gave me 2 parking options the nearest was like 10 min walking and costs 35 euro per day

Bed was very firm, only stayed one night but back was a bit sore in morning
Close to station so a bit out if the centre do was quiet. Rooms clean and quite large for Utrecht. Bathroom great size and shower really good. Reception staff very helpful

Nothing really!
Perfect location for tourism, minutes away from the main railway station and within walking distance from the city centre. The area seemed very safe, too. The room was clean, well equipped and modern. It even had both EU and UK sockets. We didn't stay for long, but we surely didn't notice any issues. Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast with a lot of variety. Extended duration, too! We woke up pretty late and still managed to have a nice breakfast with no rush.

The air conditioning in our first room was very noisy, much quieter in the room across the corridor.
The breakfast was great,staff helpful, lots of choice. We moved rooms as my husband had been ill, all went really smoothly, staff brilliant.
