Great staff, good location, good breakfast, good service.

Old hotel and not in a good sense. It has low budget renovation, cheap furniture. It definitely doesn’t cost the money you pay. Photos of the rooms are a bit far from reality.

    Property response:

Hello, Thank you for your review. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed our location, service, and breakfast! For your next visit, please note that we now offer even more comfortable rooms, newly renovated in 2024. We always strive to present a realistic view of our rooms through our pictures, as we want to avoid any misunderstandings or false expectations. The room you stayed in is indeed one of those shown in the photos. kind regards, Christine

We love it because of the location. It’s a 2min walk to the train station and a 5-7min walk to the beach. The room was spacious and the breakfast was good. The staff are friendly and accommodating. We will definitely book again.

Great location near the town, the beach and the station, helpful and friendly staff. Good shower, comfortable bed.

A kettle in my room would have been nicer than tea/coffee facilities in the foyer.

The location is very good, close to the train station. The staff is very warm and friendly.

The rooms could have been bit bigger. The absence of elevator is a drawback especially if you are carrying big luggage.

    Quick check in

Breakfast was awful, laid out wrong, too much bread, no alternative to milk ( allergic) only eggs offered as a hot option, room to small, stains on bedding and bath towels. No water pressure, cold room , radiator kept turning off, room smelt musty. Rude staff , left before the end of our stay and booked into another lovely hotel! With amazing breakfast ( hot options included sausages, bacon , mushrooms etc) comfortable rooms , lovely shower and lovely staff

    Property response:

Dear Emma, You had booked a 2nd-floor hotel room at our hotel (our cheapest room type), with a check-in time from 15:00. You received a free upgrade to a first-floor hotel room with balcony, where you could also check in as early as 09:45 in the morning, at no extra cost. The room normally costs an extra 15%. When you came to breakfast in the morning, you proclaimed in quite a raised voice that really nothing was good. The beds were bad, the pillows too hard, the sheets not to your liking, the shower the spray was too soft. You then took bread from our buffet, which you then threw back on the buffet. Our breakfast staff asked you not to do this for hygiene reasons. You then became angry because it was not clear to you whether there were milk alternatives for your daughter, due to an allergy. Despite my colleague indicating that we do have oat milk, you shouted at him that there must be alternatives. By the way, most guests indicate this when booking, after which we pass on what options we have and coordinate whether we can offer breakfast based on their wishes. In your case, nothing was indicated at the time of booking. In the conversation that followed, I indicated to you that as the owner, I want to do everything I can to make my guests comfortable, but I am not willing to do much when I am yelled at or treated rudely. You came back after 15 minutes to apologise for your tone and asked for options. I offered to upgrade your room at a reduced rate. You immediately indicated your unwillingness to pay anything extra, to which I indicated that I would then have no alternative available to you I the room type booked. You then walked away and chose to check out after 1 night. For your next booking, I advise you to take a close look at the room type you book and check with the hotel in advance what your dietary requirements are. Usually, a lot is possible, as long as we know in advance. Besides, it is also good to realise that you cannot sit in the front row for a penny. We hope the audition for your daughter went well and that you had a safe trip home.

The hotel was so peaceful and quiet yet right next to everything you needed. 1 min walk to the station and 5 min walk into heart of town but with other restaurants and shops all within a min walk. The room was great, spacious and well equipped.

We arrived late evening for a 2 night/1 day stopover on a long drive. The room had a foul odour and we could not sleep, got headaches and stomaches from god knows what toxicity. The next morning the owner explained that he had renovated the rooms recently and complained TO ME that I could have called him at any time in the evening with a phone number on the back of the door to move us. We checked again, there was no number, reception was closed at that time in the evening and he makes it my fault that he sold us a room in breach of health regulations. He refused to make any concession other than give us 'free breakfast'. A hotel should not sell a room that is health unsafe. Our stopover was completely destroyed as the kids were tired the whole day and couldn't walk around and hence our travel costs even were wasted. He offered to move us for the 2nd night, but the damage had been done and he was offensive in blaming us for his problems. I said nothing, and left the hotel and went elsewhere. We are typically very sympathetic to business owners, but this was offensive. We will continue to pursue a claim with Dutch authorities / court out of principle to let others know and when we win the case, we will donate the money to charity.

    Property response:

Dear Spyro, We have a different perception with the course of events. You came to us irritated, our receptionists felt uncomfortable with your agressive tone of voice. Indeed, when you joined us the next morning, I indicated that you may call us at the hotel phone number 24 hours a day for such matters. This phone number is found on both your room and at the front desk. I do not recognize the accusation that I complained to you about this. It is our business to ensure that everyone has a pleasant stay with us, for this we are available to our guests 24 hours a day. I only mentioned this to you as a token of this. Regarding the smell in your room. When you mentioned this, we of course immediately went to look in your room. We came to the conclusion that we could still lightly smell that a new bathroom had been installed. There was absolutely no toxic smell; you stayed safely in this room that night. However, since you had a different perception of this, we immediately offered to change your room. In addition, we did offer you a free breakfast for your family, which would normally have cost 80 euros for 4 people. You chose to leave the hotel without further explanation and continue your stay elsewhere. We deeply regret this. With the rooms available, we could have offered you an excellent stay. As a matter of fact, several other guests slept in the room after your stay, and we explicitly inquired whether they were bothered by an unpleasant smell in the room. Without exception, the guests were all enthusiastic and indicated that they were not bothered by anything. We hope that you were still able to enjoy your stay in Zandvoort. Tom Hotel Keur
