How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location, friendly staff, fair price.
The room was small and the equipment was very basic. There was a lot of noise from the street and nearby bars all night long. Nearby parking is very expensive (costs almost as much as the hotel) There was a bad smell at times. We informed the staff who promised to check, but we did not hear back. One day, it was not clear whether the room had been cleaned. We had a fire alarm one evening for unspecified reasons. Overall, the stay was pleasant in spite of the above.
Thank you for your review and feedback

Verified reviewThe location is perfect to visit the center of Maastricht, in a very nice square. The staff was very kind and let us leave our bags for free for a couple of hours after we left the room in the morning
Thank you very much for your kind words!

Verified reviewGreat spot in the city, close enough to public transport. Lots of food options nearby and staff were very pleasant.
Constant sewerage smell in room and was overpriced for what we got. Very loud Irish pub next door which had music til 3-4am which wasn’t disclosed. Warm was very hot with not much insulation and the “fan” in the room was a desktop fan which wasn’t sufficient for the whole room so it was boiling hot in the room.
Thank you for your review and feedback.

Verified reviewI was on room only basis. Room very clean, adequate and whilst I appreciate it was a v busy time with Andre Rieu in town, for a 2 star hotel it was expensive. The biggest problem was incredible heat and humidity at night although the fan helped a little. Great Staff, really friendly. I will definitely stay here again.
Difficult to say when it’s a basic hotel and no idea how you solve heat/humidity in a room in the roof! But air con would have been great!
Thank you for your review and feednack. Next year we wil have airco in most rooms.

Verified reviewEvening meal on first night was very good. Many of the junior staff are friendly and helpful
Issue 1: Extremely rude senior staff member with terrible customer care skills. Tried to prevent me leaving when I had an Uber waiting to take me to an event. Created a public scene following an error by her own staff. Manager thought it acceptable for her to manage the subsequent complaint, during which she lied to make her actions seem more acceptable. They weren’t. She removed my access to my room, with all my belongings inside including passport. Insisted I leave my event and return to the hotel. Apparently the pre-authorisation of my credit card via booking.com is completely meaningless to them. Issue 2: Room 19 is terrible small and very noisy. It is below the air conditioning unit, and when you lie down on the bed you have a droning through your head. Extremely uncomfortable. How could I be assigned such a terrible room when I booked seven months ago?!

Verified reviewI greatly appreciated the hotel's excellent location in the city center. The staff is very helpful.
My room was quite small and the bathroom was very small, so every time I took a shower, water was all over the bathroom. In summer, it can also be very hot in the room, as it is not equipped with air conditioning, only a small fan.
Thank you for your review and feedback.

Verified reviewWe were going to the Andre Rieu concert. The location is very close to the venue. Very convenient to walk back to the hotel. Its a very noisy location when you have open windows. At 4.30 on Saturday they are preparing the market. Lots of noise. Although all the noise it was a great location to stay for this event. The staff was very friendly. We paid a lot for this 3 star hotel but that had to do with the event. And we understand that.
Thank you for your review.

Very noisy, you can hear drums beats and people chatting even at 3 am. I also see a spider on the bed…
Thank you

Verified reviewThe staff was very nice. The hotel is very central, which makes it close to everything. Unfortunately, there is an Irish pub that won't let you sleep until 2am and the market that will wake you up at 5.
I couldn't sleep because of the noise and lack of air-conditioning.
Thank you for your review and feedback.

Verified reviewIt was clean, and very good location.
Really no facilities. No fridge, no kettle, no microwave, no coffee machine, no glasses, no bottle of water service. We need to go to the bar downstairs or supermarket after shower when we want to get a cold drink. Or want to have a warm drink before go to bed. Seriously, too simple. Only have beds and electric fan. That’s it. But staffs are friendly and very clean.
Thank you for your review and your kind words of the staff. We are a 2 star hotel on a A location. We have everything basic in the room as mentioned on all websites. We have a restaurant where you can order drinks and food. If you want more service in the room you have to book a 3 star or 4 star hotel.
