How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The wifi in the suite was a little weak at times.
We have stayed at Amrath Haarlem three times within the past two months as visiting family during a European holiday. For our most recent stay we booked the Junior Suite which was fabulous! A huge amount of space in the room and lovely big bathroom too. We don't book breakfast so can't comment on that but the staff are lovely and the room is clean and comfortable. This hotel is a perfect location in Haarlem hence why we keep returning to it!

The room and bathroom was old fashioned. There was not enough lighting in the junior suite. So the room is dark at night.
Location was fantastic! It is right in the heart of Haarlem. Rooms were big and spacious.

A little nitpicky, but I didn’t like all the big metal cleaning crates that held the bedding etc when cleaning the rooms it made it hard to pass on occasions.
Great location set in between the centre of Harlem and the river. Friendly staff, nice room super comfy beds.

Didn't like that the staff told us the train station would be open and trains running and it wasn't so got stranded at train station and after paying for train tickets we had to get the bus

Grand hotel with an impressively beautiful staircase and stained glass window on top. On a just perfect location in the heart of Haarlem. Although modern, it is not that recent anymore which has its advantages; you may open a window if you like, and there is water pressure in the shower. There is always staff present, so you actually meet friendly people.

2 times for us and everything was great. Very good location, in the city center of Haarlem with many restaurants, bars.... And 10 minutes by walk for the train station if you want to visit Amsterdam! The staff is great (reception and cleaners) Did not test breakfast

It isn't a big minus, but for the price hotel feels a little bit old, also the furniture is kinda old. Noise from the outside street.

The bathroom could use some adjustments. The toilet seat had a lot of scratches, leaving the impression that it wasn't clean (while it was). The shower is not a power shower, but it has a decent jet. The heardrier is old, overheats quickly. The tissue box kept opening due to drier cable going over it; or when you took out a tissue. Also, it seemed battered. The air-conditioning produced a lot of noise, so we kept it switched off during the night. The breakfast selection was not what we expected for a 4-star hotel (compared to our other experiences in both 3 and 4 star hotels). The nice breakfast area and lovely staff made up for this.
Excellent location. Very pleasant staff. Pleasing interior with comfortable chairs in the lobby. Efficient and smiling breakfast crew. Very good sized room. Comfortable beds and pillows. Enough space for 2 people luggage and clothes. Loved the little table near the windows, where you could sip your tea in two. French windows that open. Quiet courtyard (plus church bells). Decent selection of TV and radio programs. Mini bar was handy. Bathtub. Nice hand and body soap and conditioner. Enough clean towels.

It was very old looking with strange furniture in the room. It needs renovation but it was very clean.
