Loved everything!

Amazingly decorated with the home’s time period in mind…like something out of a magazine. Beautifully landscaped back garden with loads of nooks and crannies to sit in and enjoy the garden’s flower filled cobbled sitting areas…including the view of the church next door. The breakfast room was well designed with wallpaper I couldn’t take my eyes off…until our breakfast arrived….delicious local items presented that kept us satiated until dinner. The location was perfect, just on the entrance to the charming old town. Easy to find and with parking very close by. The location made it easy to enjoy the quiet, calm atmosphere this beautiful village exudes just stepping outside from Fortuna Spinoza.

The property is well located with restaurants, bars and free parking all in close proximity. The property is decorated to provide a very comfortable environment. Breakfast was awesome.

Steep stairs would be a challenge for older or infirm customers. More of a beautiful bed and breakfast than a hotel but I would definitely stay here again if coming to the Monickendam area.

Fortuna Spinoza was a dream, a lovely place hosted by beautiful people. We enjoyed a thoughtfully prepared and healthy breakfast in a gorgeous dining room. Our room was so pretty -- quiet, comfortable, and well-appointed. We also enjoyed access to a private backyard. Monnickendam is a sweet village with many good, small restaurants. Morning walks around the harbor are serene, and Amsterdam is an easy and quick ride by public transit.

Calm, relaxing luxury in a beautiful home near the heart of the village and port. The most comfortable bed we have ever experienced!! Very easy to bus to Amsterdam. Very helpful and accommodating hosts! A little hidden piece of heaven.

Beautiful old mansion in a small Dutch town - felt very luxurious and comfortable too. Before we arrived, Babette sent some fantastic recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Lovely host that really made sure we enjoyed our stay. Fortuna Spinoza was one of the best places we stayed on our vacation. We had high expectations after reading other reviews and our expectations were exceeded.

Gorgeous house with great design, every corner brings proof of extraordinary attention to detail, quality and great care. The rooms are beautifully appointed, the house is wonderful through and through as is the garden. Add to that the warmth of Raisa, who is extremely welcoming and also makes an extraordinary breakfast, the friendliness of Babette and the results can only be an amazing stay! We had a beautiful birthday weekend here and the town and surrounding area are very beautiful and picturesque.

We had some smell in the bathroom coming from possibly a clogged drain, which caused some inconvenience and windows were not so easy to open, but they did their best to resolve it and at least there was air conditioning in the room. Bed was a little firm for my liking as side sleeper but my wife didn't mind at all!

Beautiful building and comfortable room, nice location, convenient parking nearby and very nice breakfast offered in a beautiful setting and friendly and very helpful service with a smile every day.

What’s not to like? Perhaps the best place we stayed during nearly a month in The Netherlands. And Monnickendam itself was a delight, with a fabulous Spanish restaurant to boot.

Everything was more than perferct

Outstanding location - a very short and cheap bus ride from Amsterdam gets you to a romantic small town with excellent views, quality restaurants which are not overcrowded by tourists. Stay at Fortuna Spinoza as a highlight of our trip. It is better than on the pictures, its VERY clean, from our room we had a magic view to the garden. Breakfast was excellent with a big attention to detail and local products. Edam town is nearby too. Prerfect value for spending time in Amsterdam but still experience a romantic atmosphere of small town.
