Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere are no windows and there is no reception so the only contact with staff is via the phone. There is also no lift because of the age of the place so access is via narrow stairs
The room is quirky, being round, very old and full of character. The room is well equipped

The hotel forms part of the city wall. Rooms are large and well appointed. We met the host who was kind enough to explain some of the history of the hotel and the city walls.

NetherlandsRoom could have been a little cleaner, especially the wires going to the lights. Other than that, no negative things to report about the property.
Nice comfortable room. Close to the city center as well as to de Librije. Excellent offer for breakfast and presenting you with the option to reserve a parking space upfront in the parking garage right next to the entrance.

The apartment is in an historic building, part of the old walls of the city. It's been beautifully adapted to accommodation, with very cool decor. Go up the stairs of the tower to find a lovely terrace. Very well located. Very comfortable. Helpful and friendly hosts. For bike tourers, there is a free parking facility just up the street. I think it was locked at about 6pm. Loved it.

SwedenNo parking, no breakfast included and hard to get heavy luggage up to the room through the windling stairs. None of these are problems really, but good to be aware of when selecting this accomodation.

NetherlandsWith all respect. It sounds wonderful to have an old defense tower transformed into a hotel. But this is hardly a hotel. It was cold and windy in the apartment. The few windows were not really covered with any glass panels, but there were curtains of which half could be opened, the others not. Of course, there is some charm in a round room and having the brick walls, but this is real spartan. Nice, if you pretend to be a cold and shivering princess that stays in bed all the time. To add to the atmosphere and compensate the 1m thick walls, the floors were probably about 1cm thick. I could hear the persons above and below. Luckily the couple above me did not have sex, otherwise, it would have been a live ASMR experience. If this is your thing, do It, by all means. But this is not really my cup of thea. Furthermore: Very dusty wires (for the lightling) all over the apartment. Some horrible cow-hide covered chair in which I did not dare to sit, considering what might live in the hide. No heating (to speak off) Hardly any windows, and those were open (no glass). No Iron No closets No dining area No AC Hardly any electric outlets (at least not on useful places) Walk-in shower Useless flat screen TV (Neighbors will certainly complain)
Near the center of town. Pick up of the key went well. Friendly person, have not seen her since.

NetherlandsThe room wasn't that clean, the sheets had stains on them and the glasses were dirty. The tower is quite noisy too since it's very old. Woke up several times because the people in the room above me were walking around in the middle of the night. Breakfast was quite minimal and overpriced. Got some slices of bread and a coffee and orange juice for €17. There's also no windows in the room at all (to be fair the description said "few windows").
The location is superb and it's an experience to stay in the old tower. The staff that greeted me and handed me the key was very friendly and helpful.
