Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Great location for where I had to travel in Amsterdam. Clean, efficient property with nice neighbourhood shops and cafes nearby. Try the small Italian place with home madepasta. Fantastico! I will be returning to the Townhouse for my next business trip to Amsterdam

No tea making stuff in the rooms :( they were 2.50 on the machine in the lobby
We didn’t actually stay at the townhouse, we were moved to another hotel called ITC which was opposite, the room itself was clean an tidy, the bed was amazing!!! Such a comfy mattress, lovely duvet cover, I didn’t wanna leave :( the room didn’t have any tea making facilities which was abit of a let down but the bed made up for it!

Not the hotels fault, as its in a beautiful old building it can get a bit noisy and you can hear people talking, getting in of a night as if they are in your room and footsteps, that was the only downfall for us.
Location was great, lovely comfy cosy room and bed, good shower and the room was clean, had a TV on the wall with access to Netflix etc

When we were given the room initially the member of staff said in passing that there is another room free tomorrow if we are not happy with to room provided. Which hinted that the staff knew the room was not good. Following two nights at the hotel we finally gave up with the mosquitoes and asked for a different room. By this point we were both covered in bits. When I told the receptionist the reason for wanting to move they cut me off mid sentence and said that they are aware of the problem. This lead me to believe that this is a common complaint from guests which makes me wonder why they are still putting people in that room. Once we moved the room was great. So thank you to the hotel for the service.
Perfect location. Friendly staff. Staff changed our room after two nights due to mosquitoes in the room with the windmill wall sticker.

Abit small for 2 people with luggage but that’s to be expected in Amsterdam. We had stayed previously at the Amsterdam Canal Hotel and

Not been informed before arrival that we needed to go to another hotel to check. It was not far away, but could have been told before taking our luggage to the front door! Our friends room was not ready for him either, and we arrived after check in time.

The room could have been cleaner, especially the floor. The bed I slept on next to the window kept sloping towards the floor due to an un-level surface. It would've been nice to have a fridge to store milk to be able to enjoy the tea which was in the room.
The location was great. The noise levels were okay for us to get a good sleep. The hotel staff were very friendly.

very basic and modest accommodations. thin walls and small rooms but that is expected with this price range and area. stairs are steep (common in Amsterdam) so be aware if you have heavy luggage.
good value, very nice staff and excellent location. i enjoyed my stay and would stay again. ❤️ shared toilet and shower wasn’t too bad either.

Not much as a lone traveler it was perfect location is great staff are great I honestly loved it rooms are spotless
It's in a perfect location i came on my own and the room was absolutely perfect couldn't ask for better value for money staff over in the reception are very welcoming aswellcwill definitely be using again
