Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MaltaCan get a bit noisy late at night especially close to the weekend.
The unique feel which is experienced through the lack of new age commodities. The location is amazing as well, surrounded by restaurants, shops, museums and easy access to public transport.

NetherlandsThe facilities are all you need and clean. So for me it was perfect. But the electricity could really use a little update.
The room was like an eccentric mid century writers room. Shabby chic with a great vibe, you can imagine yourself as a character in a period crime tv show.. Great place for a solo traveler, with an excellent location in the city center. A modest (first) breakfast of good coffee and a croissant (free!) in the bookstor itself is a great way to start the day.

United StatesThe location is excellent. Complimentary coffee and croissant every morning. Portable heater in the room. Comfortable bed. Hot water. The steps are very steep and narrow. The wash basin only had a cold water spigot. I failed to Read the fine print. Didn't realize there was no Wi-Fi which was a terrible inconvenience. No place to hang clothes or towels. A map of the city would have been helpful, which I'm sure they can get from the tourist office and place in the room. Easy check-in and checkout. It is more like a Airbnb than a hotel. It doesn't have any of the characteristics of a hotel. More like a private bedroom with a private bath.

NetherlandsThe sink, and the crane was to little. The windows where also not locked and could not be locked from the inside, anyone with a ladder (which was standing outside in the ally in front of the (hotel/building) could get in with the slightest knowledge and gear of burglary. It was not allowed to smoke in front of the "hotel" or in the alley that I didn't like also :-( .
The books, the old typographer. The plants. Location very close to the centrum and very nice area around.

TurkeyAs it was stated that there was no wifi in the room, I was prepared and had no problem with it. Perhaps I can only suggest that this service be added.
I loved the atmosphere of the room, which could be made even more pleasant with a few minor renovations. The location is also really nice. It is also nice to be able to have breakfast in the warm atmosphere of the Bookstor Cafe on the same street. The staff were very helpful with everything and did their best to make me feel comfortable. Thank you all.

SpainPlug sockets were difficult to find, I never did find the lights to the toilet. There was no internet. Stairs were very steep (though that’s common in Holland). There was no wardrobe. I’m not sure I’d describe it as a hotel…it’s more of an Airbnb.
The location is awesome. The room was fabulously quirky! I loved all the books. Breakfast in the bookshop was lovely.

DenmarkNothing to complain about, as I knew that I should not expect a common hotel room as such. Of course it can be annoying that there is no WiFi when you have to answer that one important email or the sink is a bit small, but for me, this only added to the overall charme of the room and the experience.
Lovely little room in the middle of everything. Cozy decor, very friendly owner, good brekky, and of course lots of new reading inspiration. If you get tired of the books, there is a nice jazz bar just across the street. Overall a great stay.

SwedenThere are some downsides but as long as you know what to expect it shouldn’t take away from a cosy stay: The bathroom didn’t have a door (only a shower curtain) which was fine since I traveled alone, but it’s worth mentioning. The sink is very small, there was only one small mirror and one very small bin. The plumbing smelled after having been used but it wasn’t noticeable in the living area. The street is quite noisy so bring your earplugs, the windows are very thin.
Super cozy rooms at the top of the house, slanted roof with ceiling windows, lots and lots of books and plants and more space than I expected. An “office”, “bathroom”, “hallway”, “bedroom” and “living room” although there are no doors in between, only curtains. It is simple but that is also the charm and is described clearly in the info. There was also a small fridge which was a nice surprise. Very nice host and cosy coffee at the cafe each morning!

United KingdomThe two very minor issues I had were the lack of too my knowlege anywhere to hang up clothes, wasnt expecting any massive wardrobes but a small rail for 2 or three items just in case, and while i never needed anything major at times the response to questions from the owner was slightly slow, but not slow enough to cause problems or take away from the hard work he does everywhere else.
Beautiful location in the heart of the hague, loved the location the vibe everything was amazing from start to finish. Amazing value for money anyone staying anywhere near Den Haag stay here.
