How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The one challenging thing with the location is the pub across the street as the weekend noise from its patrons carried down to the bedroom. During weeknights it was not a problem. There were a lot of steep stairs that could be challenging for some folks.
The location was great in terms of access to restaurants, sites, and transportation. There is a great coffee place right next door and lots of bakeries within a block or two. The unit was clean and well stocked.

Only thing was no windows to let in fresh air. They are sealed closed.
Large space which was great to spread out in. Bathroom was lovely and a great shower! Lovely area and quiet, once our noisy neighbours left (thank you for helping us sort that out so fast).

Express to the coffee doesn't work. Problem with hot water in the bathroom at the morning. Air conditioning all the time working, so it's a little cold in the bedroom unfortunately

The lighting in lounge

Lack of cooking facilities - only a microwave (although there were pans etc?). Weird places for light switch,s.
Very spacious (two studio flats). Comfy beds. Brilliant location.

It wasnt cleaned properly and there is that door in the bedroom leading to some common storage area. The whole place itself is a little strange. Its basically an apartment bulding, that is changed to serve as a Hotel.
The rooms are rather nicely designed

The entrance is a bit hidden. Residents tried to close the fence in front of us when we came back. I understand the need for the fence considering the location, but it have been nice to have had a key.
Centrally located. Clean. Similar price as a hotel.

No heating (was fixed in 24hrs), 1 of the few cups wasn't chipped, bring your own wine opener, no bowls, so forget cereal for breakfast or soup for lunch... and don't expect a wineglass. The fan in the bathroom didn't work so lots of humidity in the not really heated basement bedroom. A number of the cushion covers REALLY need a whirl in the washing machine
Great location and lovely flat - really good bones. The bedroom is on the basement which means its quiet and dark (no windows). The flat is lacking in amenities / tlc.

Could do with more glasses/cups. Free toiletries could include shampoo, conditioner, shower gel. Pity we couldn’t leave bags for extra 2 hours after check out.

Poor selection of dishes in the kitchen: several frying pans that did not work well (or at all) with the induction stove; no spatula. The door handle was loose and could be removed from outside the room. No wifi or cell/data reception in the bedroom in the basement. The hot water was only warm.
Excellent location in the heart of Haarlem. Unique architecture with vaulted ceiling and curved ceiling in the basement bedroom. Nicely and thoughtfully decorated.

Issues with the shower drain that was flooding the bathroom. Nice breakfast but not on location, only a few minutes away, and only available as of 9am.

This is very much a self service arrangement. We collected the keys from a key safe and never met anyone face to face We were moved to a different location from the one selected at the last minute. The email with details for our accommodation didn't even make this clear. Don't rely on the map location when booking! Breakfast was offered at a nearby cafe but it didn't open until 9am. We were unable to take breakfast on any of the 4 days. This was not made clear at the time of booking.. The room was described as "B&B 1001 Nacht: Romantic Double Room With Roof Terrace" but actually had two very narrow single beds.
