Be prepared for the hotel to be busy with either functions or non guests - this does push the staff in their ability to serve. This was reflected in a pretty ordinary breakfast experience one morning during our stay.

Position, History and Character - really liked the Hotel and the staff. On the whole, we had a great stay.

Nice boutique hotel in historical building. The only issue was that the stairs were steep leading up to the second floor, where the sleeping rooms are located. The stairs can be challenging. They do have a stair lifter for those who are unable to climb the stairs.

The room was very small and the bed really needed replacing. It was old and the springs were rather uncomfortable. The walls were also very thin. We could easily hear the neighbors snores during the night. And the chandelier was low, so I knocked my head on it. It was also very dusty.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I have food allergies that they were happy to accommodate. -The uniqueness of the decoration.

While we liked the charm of the old building, it seems our room had the sloping floor. It wasn't really noticeable while we were awake but during the night, both my husband and I woke up repeatedly with a weird impression as if the bed was falling down on one side. However, somehow we got a pretty good sleep and rested well.

We enjoyed the interiors, the bathtub and the excellent breakfast. Everything was clean. The location couldn't be better.

Bedroom was beautiful on face value but lacked some thought. No coffee making facilities, no iron, no hotel information such as WiFi code. No dressing area to sit at. Sometimes I wish hotels would test (a female staff member maybe) out how easy it is to actually get ready. Do hair and makeup for example. But my main issue was the poor standard of cleaning. The cobwebs were really really bad especially behind the big bulky curtains. This needs better attention.

Beautiful setting and location. The property looks very grand and great decor. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

The chandelier in the room was too big and positioned on top of the bed. Best to change it for a smaller light. The room will look bigger.

We had the room at the top floor and the view was wonderful. Quiet and relaxing too. Lovely bathroom and the towels so soft. We had a great time. The food at the restaurant was amazing too.

Good location in historic centre and helpful staff but small room
    • Leisure trip

The room was small, with very little floor space, made more problematic by the small amount storage space. No information was provided in the room so we had to ask the staff numerous basic questions, e.g. for the Wifi password, breakfast arrangements, which they answered promptly and cheerfully, but it was embarrassing to be forced to ask. Breakfast service was slow because there was no buffet and each table was provided with its own selection of breakfast items on a stand, some of which we had explained we couldn't eat because we are vegetarian. The focus of the hotel appears to be its restaurant and events rather than resident guests.

The hotel is located at the heart of the historic area of Edam, which makes it easy to explore the old streets and cheese shops, and is close to restaurants. However, it is over a kilometer from the beach. The young staff were immensely helpful. The quantity and range of breakfast was fine. The bathroom was a decent size and its decor up to date. We were grateful for the secure bike storage.

Basic rooms were small and elaborate decorations consumed valuable space and collected dust. Check-in area was at the bar so can get a bit crowded. A/C and heat unit did not work, although temperature was tolerable and our waitress did her best to help. Restaurant was ok but try other places nearby including Volendam, esp at the sw end of Zuideinde.

Location was excellent . A good walk (3 km) to the busier Volendam and the walk along the water. Local shops nearby were worth visiting for cheese, chocolate, souvenirs, etc.. Ample outdoor seating adjacent to the canal on the hotel property. Rooms were elaborately decorated in the romantic style. Service was generally good - one waitress was outstanding. Restaurant was good. Beware if you order the appetizer platter - it's huge, plenty for two or three.

The bed was sinking in the middle ( room 3). The room was quite small for 2 people and luggage. Steep stairs with no lift, not a problem for us but could be for others.

The restaurant was great. Food was delicious ( we could not finish as proportions were quite generous). Rooms were very clean, plenty of charging outlets. Staff were very helpful and friendly!

There’s no minibar. For a romantic hotel is extremely important a minibar. The breakfast was very poor and not nice at all.

I loved the decoration of the rooms and the entire Hotel. Was very clean, very nice location. Our room has an amazing view of the canal. Friendly staff. We didn’t eat in the restaurant because we did a late checkin, so the kitchen closes at 21:00, what’s in our opinion is too early for a Saturday. So we haven’t time to enjoy the restaurant but we had a very nice impression and we would like to return and have a dinner over there.

The duvets were lumpy and the lighting in the bathroom too dim. The mirror in the bathroom was too high for doing make up and there was generally too much clutter of unnecessary objects (without particular function) in the room Taking up space needed for guests own belongings.

Beautiful location, nice view from the Hotel room over the canal and excellent big breakfast, friendly staff and overall a lovely place to stay, not too far from Amsterdam with en excellent bus service to get to and from Amsterdam to Edam.

Given the standard of the evening meals , breakfast was a bit routine comparably. Kellogg's variety packs of cereal not great and no choice of food, same plate each morning. Unable to understand why staff were not allowed to serve us a glass of water until we had ordered a drink from the menu then we were only given a glass. As we were cycling felt this was a bit unreasonable as we were guests and we needed to rehydrate No tea or coffee facilities in room either. Standard of evening meals was a compensation however

Central location Excellent evening meals with good chefs.Large outside eating area Very pleasant staff Slightly quirky decor Unusual decoration

We had expected the room to be on the small side from the description. However, it was really small, with very limited storage and surfaces on which to place things. Only two hangers in the wardrobe. Electrical sockets difficult to access for charging.

The room was spotlessly clean. Crisp bedding and a sparkling bathroom. Dressing gowns and slippers were an added bonus. The hotel’s decor is vibrant and fun throughout and the location is excellent.
