Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe hotel is just a small walk from the shopping street and beach. All restaurants are within a few minutes of walking. The rooms were spacious, but a tad dated. Breakfast was a good Dutch breakfast (eggs, bacon, cold cuts, bread, croissants, yoghurt ....).

The hotel is nice and quite well placed. I had a single room and it was enough to sleep. The area is quiet, so no noise while sleeping: perfect The staff is very nice.

FinlandIt was chilly in the room when I arrived as thermostats were turned down and it took a full day to warm up (stormy and freezing outside). It took really long before the shower went hot (but when it did, it had good pressure and was stable). I missed a hook to hang my wet coat, should be easy to install. Reception closed at 10 pm, it would be good to install a vending machine.
A small hotel a short walking distance to the restaurants etc with narrow hallways and staircases (and an elevator which I did not use). No luxury, but everything essential. I was there off season, so it was very quiet. The room was small (as expected) and almost like in photos. Only the vase with was missing (a good thing), there was a kettle on the table with instant coffee and tea (a good thing) and the glasses in the bathroom were replaced with plastic cups in plastic wrappings (a good thing). Breakfast surpassed expectations and included oranges + orange juice press. Very good bed and pillow. Quiet.

CroatiaThe only unpleasant thing in Astoria is that our reservation for 2 nights over Booking.com was lost! They first didn't know what to do with us, then they found a room for the first night and told us that tomorrow they will see what to do with us, so that all was really a stress for us and was not pleasant. They finally managed to keep us for the second night in hotel, but we had to change the room. When we were checking out they gave us a small discount (we didn't have to pay 13 EUR for parking) as a satisfaction for this inconvenience we had with reservation. So, this was nice of them, but that feeling when we arrived that they don't have a room for us was really a big shock and surprise for us - this is the first time anywhere in the world that it happened to me that reservation over Booking.com was not valid! And I was in correspondence with hotel a week earlier asking some questions and nobody told me that something is not in order! I would like to come to Astoria again, but if coming again I will obviously have to ask hotel several times if everything is OK with my reservation or not, so if somebody is going there please have that in mind!
Astoria hotel is a good hotel, better to say it is really value for the money. It is located on a nice and quiet place. For people coming by car it is good that they have own parking with a reasonable price. Breakfast is rather good, not something special but OK. Personal is also OK. Rooms are clean and rather confortable.

United KingdomInitially it was not possible to check-in early for one of our guests, who arrived after a very early flight. I had to book an extra night in order for them to get into their room early. Luckily once I arrived I was told that they could get into their room early at no extra costs.
The room was spacious and clean. Communication was good. Staff were helpful Parking was nearby for a reasonable price.

United KingdomNot enough variety on breakfast
Simple breakfast with bread, some cheese, some croissants. Not a large selection but basic enough to a breakfast. I feel for the price of the rooms the breakfast should have been a higher quality and variety

CanadaEverything wad very good. I suppose if I have to complain about something it would be the size of my single room. No problem with it but I did expect a bit more space especially with my bike saddle bags. But in the end it was comfortable and I had no problem so no real complaints. Great breakfast made up for everything.
Breakfast was wonderful. One of the best I've enjoyed during my bike tour of 4 countries. Very relaxing and spacious breakfast facility. My single room was on the small side. Expected a bit larger but made it work.

NetherlandsThe steps to the restaurant and steps at the entrance are not nice for people with a disability. Another thing I didn't like, is the plastic/rubber cover of the matras. I had to take a towel to lay on because I am allergic and was sweating all over. If they cover it with a molton or so under the bedsheet, it would help.
Friendly staff. I needed a place to stay and it served the purpose. Check out was at 11. which was nice. I arrived without any bagage and was able to buy a toothbrush and toothpaste at the reception. That made me feel much better!

GermanyHotel room was dirty. Legacies in front of former guests. Bathroom mold and there were silver fish in the bathroom lamp, as there was no trigger (without function) could not remove the humidity. Room very small (for 3 people) Toilet very cramped (I about 190 had to sit diagonally on the toilet seat) there very close to the wall.
The location was very good, just a few minutes to the city and the beach. Breakfast was ok.

United StatesIt was all great. My tiny quibble would be in the breakfast room the coffee was too weak, and the position of the machine in such proximity to the bread and pastries caused a minor congestion The toilet in our room was very close to the wall. Very little space in front of the toilet
The breakfast room was airy and bright There is a good range of breakfast items to suit most routines

United KingdomWe liked everything :)
We booked a three person room. The room was spacious, nice and clean. We loved the lay-out, as even though we were with three people, you still had privacy whilst lying in bed (one double bed and one single bed). Staff was helpful and nice. Breakfast was great too. The location is fantastic; very close to the beach. We would recommend this hotel.
