How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWhile some of the rooms looked ok from what I saw, my room (30) did not look like any of the room photos I’d seen and was in real need of an update. It felt like a cheap hostel room and that was disappointing.

Very small Washroom. No coffee and very expensive for the size of room. We stayed in Europe for 14 days and this was the worst hotel although staff were helpful

Verified reviewRoom and bathroom were clean. I was lucky enough to have a small balcony which was a bit grubby but nice to have a beer at the end of the evening. Room smelt like onions when I arrived but aired out ok. I found the bed very comfortable and had a great sleep.
The carpet could do with a change and the walls with a bit of paint. I guess the hotel gets a lot of traffic, needs a refresh outside the rooms.

Verified reviewGreat location.
Staff was not pleasant, except for the person who was working the morning we checked out. No elevator. Even though I liked the aesthetics of the stairs, they weren’t practical for a hotel.

Verified reviewExcellent positioning, in a good neighborhood, about 15-17 minutes by foot from Rijkmuseum and Van Gogh Museum to the hotel. Rooms are clean. The staff was reliable.
The furniture in the room was a bit old than I expected, I mean what you see in the pics from Booking is not the same in reality. The bathroom was a bit cramped and it was difficult to ventilate due to the limited space.

Verified reviewThe beds are really comfortable, which I think is one of the most important things. The room was large, and the bathroom was spacious as well. The room had a balcony with a table and chairs, which was great for relaxing in the evening. Vondelpark is only a few minutes away on foot, and it’s a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. On the other side of the park, about a 10-minute walk, there are many restaurants to choose from. The reception is available 24/7 for any questions you might have. The tram station is also within walking distance, making it easy to get around. Next to the tram station, there’s a nice local pub and restaurant worth checking out.
The location is far from any attractions on foot, so you have to use transportation. There is no elevator in the hotel, and the stairs are dangerously steep. While the room size is very comfortable, the shower is of a subpar size, only about 60x60 cm, so you really have to squeeze in there. Our room was not cleaned for the first two days, and we had to complain to the reception to get it cleaned on the next day.

I rarely leave reviews, but this stay was so bad that I feel obliged to warn others. From the moment we arrived, the difference between the photos on here and reality was shocking. The room was disgustingly unclean - stained furniture, blood spots on the sheets, greasy fingerprints on the bathroom door, and piles of dust on the bathroom heater that could only have accumulated over months. I genuinely don’t know what the cleaners are being paid for. They list "outdoor furniture" under their facilities, photos show balconies with chairs/tables — but in reality, our balcony was tiny, had no furniture and barely fit 2 people. None of the 3 balconies facing the street had any furniture. Are guests expected to sit on bare concrete? We raised our concerns at reception. Hoping for a more accurate room, we asked to be moved and were told to come back the next day. When we did, we were offered a much smaller room with a balcony shared between 3 rooms - a clear downgrade from the larger room with a private balcony we had paid for. We declined. Later, they told us a room of similar size with a bigger balcony would be available in 3 days. Not ideal, but we compromised, thinking at least we’d get some relief for the last half of our stay. We packed our things to move, only to be told on the day of the move, that there had been a "mistake" and no room was available after all. The whole thing felt like a stalling tactic designed to get us to accept the subpar room and give up complaining. When we challenged this, the staff kept insisting the room we had was “very big,” as if that justified everything. That told us everything we needed to know — our complaint was never taken seriously and they had no intention of moving us at all. Sleep? Forget it. The walls are paper-thin.
thank you for your nice review. your only issue is that you were not satified with the balcony. We had showed you alternatives but adviced you to keep the room. You never had mention any of your issues . We had to say we did any effort to please you and made your stay as comfortable as possible . Again thank you it was our pleasure to waste our time and effort to deal with guest like you.

Verified reviewThere wasn't much to like about this place.
We were super disappointed with our stay. We stayed for 3 nights and there was no hot water in the morning all 3 three days, and we were reassured every night that there will be hot water in the morning. The morning staff kept saying this happened for the first time and it will be fixed next day. And it never did. We had to leave early morning every day for tours and we had to leave without showers. For the price we paid for the room, it was absolutely not worth it. I would never stay or recommend this hotel to anyone.

Verified reviewLovely location. The room looked exactly like the pictures and was decently sized. It was clean, well-air-conned and a very pleasant stay!
There were a couple of scuff marks on the walls and the staff were not incredibly friendly, suggesting more tourist areas for dinner instead of the street filled with beautiful local restaurants nearby.

Beds not the best , if you have motability issues you would find it difficult to to get up the second lot of stairs as they are very steep , not uncommon for tall buildings but be aware they are steep

Verified reviewThe location is fantastic - easy walk to a tram that takes you directly into the centre of the old town, plenty of cafes, close to the Vonderpark.
We had a room at the front of the hotel, facing the road. Because of the hot weather, we needed to have the window open at night and it was very noisy with the traffic and trams going past. It is under the flight path as well. If we stayed again I would ask for a room at the back. Our shower flooded but the staff were great and got it sorted out quickly. The stairs are very steep and there is no lift (the description was clear about this, to be fair) so it's not suitable for people who are not strong enough to carry luggage up and down several flights of steps. The staff helped us up the stairs with our suitcase when we arrived.
