How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The cleaning of the public showers could be improved.
The staff was good in English and willing to offer the information. The hotel do the transport shuttles to nearby countries. Our room went with the fans only and it was ok to sleep.

The experience would have been perfect without the heat in the room. We had a double upstairs and there is absolutely no air coming into the room. The fan is not enough and we had some really tough nights. Appart from that : great location, great breakfast (you get to pick between sweet and sour breakfast), nice common area, nice staff,… we enjoyed our stay still !

I wish the bathroom/shower areas had more hooks or shelves to place towels or clothes.
The location is excellent - a few minutes away from the main art museum, at the corner of a big chain grocery store and a smaller pharmacy, plus 10/15 minute walk from the main plaza. I liked that there were lockers to use with their own keys and plenty of space to spread out if needed. The staff, especially Jennifer and Erickson, were so sweet and helpful.

They should place some jacket hangers in the dormitory to make comfortable for guests. They should put some shower gel in the bathroom so there won’t be mess. These are small additions but will give more value. Only only shower workable for dorms this is a big concern when it is filled

Private upstairs room was uncomfortably hot even with the fan
Helpful staff, awesome breakfasts, comfy air-conditioned dorm rooms, great kitchen. Also provided all the information on tours and shuttles and boats.

We are a bit annoyed as we have been receiving mails from booking.com saying we did not check in or stay there at all. We definitely did stay, so we are a bit confused and hoping we will not be charged for not showing up.
Hostal was nice and the room was spacious.

- No filtered water - Location feels a bit out of the way, but it is walkable - Only two toilets/showers so sometimes had to wait
+ Pancakes at breakfast were delicious + AC in dorm was good. Top bunks closest to AC are good for those that want to be cold! + Staff friendly + Bathrooms cleaned everyday

The room was small, no outside window, just one on the corridor. And it was extremely hot in the room.
The guy at the reception is nice. We appreciated to have towels. Shared bathrooms are cleaned. Good breakfast. Be aware that it is served from 7:30am, so you can’t leave soon for a fresh hike.

The shower ran constantly- it was more than just a drip but it wasn’t possible to turn it off fully.
Really friendly staff. Aircon available for $10 per night in the private room which was a necessity with the heat in Leon! Free breakfast prepared for you every morning. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Front desk is manned 24/7 and staff were really kind and friendly.

Two showers and toilets between how many people? Doors left open to invite in mosquitoes and other creepy crawlies. Planting may encourage mosquitoes, the toilets were always inundated with them.
Great location being a couple of blocks away from the historic centre. Great staff, knowledgeable and helpful. A good breakfast is cooked every morning (choice of two options)

If you're not keen on cold showers, then you won't like it. However, Leon can get really hot so a coldish shower is more than welcome.
Staff super friendly and helpful! Breakfast was good, you could choose between a typical meal with rice, eggs and cheese or pancakes with bananas. The room had a bathroom inside, which was ideal. And the location is also great, just a couple of blocks from the main Square and just half a block from the museum. Great deal for 12 dollars!

It's not really a place to hangout, socialize or connect with people. There are no common activities, that's why I left after one night to somewhere else.
Cozy with good beds. Rooms had lockers and fans. Place was clean and chill. The breakfast of pancakes and bananas was small but fine. Staff was friendly.

We had a no AC room which was an absolute killer - we could barely sleep at night even with the little fan, and the bed would make loud screeching very loudly with the slightest movement which I've never experienced before in hostels
The staff was very helpful with everything. It's only a few blocks from the center and there is a big supermarket nearby. Enjoyed the hangout spaces too. One of the cleanest places I stayed at in a while! They clean the bathroom meticulously like every other hour.

It is a small building, so they don't have the space to install a nice area for people to chill and socialize (Hammocks, for example). There are two picnic tables outside, but you wouldn't really use them when you want to relax.
The dorm was big, with big lockers for every bed. There were also fans for every bed. The hostel has a nice kitchen too, and they serve a good breakfast every morning. It is very close to all the main attractions in Leon. It was low season when I visited so the hostel was pretty quiet, but the staff was really nice and made my time there fun!
