IrelandEverything was perfect, especially the friendliness of the staff. I have travelled the world extensively and stayed in may hotels and guesthouses, in all my years of travel I have never come across such friendly staff at the hotel, in particular Grace who greeted me on my late arrival, she went the extra mile throughout my stay, for example she arranged for someone to come an change money at the hotel, she made sure I got the best rate and even counted the cash to make sure everything was in order. She arranged taxis for me to visit parts of the city and even followed up with phone calls to the taxi driver and guide to make sure I arrived safe and sound. Grace, you deserve a big bonus from your boss! I would highly recommend Catherine Villa for your stay in Lagos. Eugene, from Ireland

United StatesThe biggest thing, the hotel generator kept breaking so I went hours with neither light nor wifi, both of which I needed urgently. It's Friday night in Lagos and I'm forced to go out with an almost dead phone, this is very dangerous. This went on for at least a few days till I finally checked out bc I need regular electricity in a hotel. This is unacceptable for a hotel in VI. The TV in the living room didn't work bc the remote needed batteries and this was figured out after some troubleshooting. The TV in the bedroom had to be changed bc it wasn't working properly. Little things that are easily caught and fixed with proper & thorough maintenance but that seems to be a nation-wide issue here, proper maintenance of things/buildings/spaces. A couple of other small issues but nothing dire. Like the room being a little dated but they have some modern electronics in it.
Staff, very nice. Excellent customer service for Nigeria. Very friendly and personable. The rooms are clean, no signs of insects, my bed was comfortable. The breakfast was decent though a bit scant.

The breakfast was one to look forward to! The pool experience, the helpfulness of the staff (Sarah, Nike, etc) stood out also.

PakistanI had a very disappointing experience at Catherine Villa Hotel. We booked our stay in US dollars, but upon arrival, they refused to accept dollars and insisted we change currency elsewhere before checking in. This was extremely inconvenient. We also paid in advance for breakfast for two people, but at the hotel they claimed it was only for one person and asked us to pay extra. The breakfast itself was very poor — just bread, eggs, potatoes, and tea. As for the room service, it was also subpar. On the first day, they provided only one bottle of water, and on the next day, there was none at all. When we asked, we were told that they only provide water every three days, as per their policy. This is unacceptable for any hotel. Overall, I would not recommend staying here. There are better options with more honest service and basic hospitality.
The location was okay and the check-in process was relatively quick once we got the right currency. The room was clean on arrival. That’s about the only positive part of the stay.
