Being a hotel in Malaysia, it would be good to install a hand bidet in the toilet. Food was average.

At check-in reception takes more money than the cost of your stay to cover any meals and drinks purchased on your room. They take the money at checking but on checkout they take 14 days to give you any money back - that’s just corporate greed !!

A staff member at reception wasn't very welcoming and we could see that she was trying to humour us. I asked for a downgrade from the superior room in the Rasa wing to a superior room in the Garden wing because the view from our Rasa wing room was of the car park whereas the Graden wing would have been the poolside which we felt was better. She said we could downgrade but we wouldn't be able to use Rasa wing facilities even though we'd paid for it!! We would have to sign a waiver to say we forfeit the facilities even though we wouldn't have got a penny back on the downgrade. We found this absolutely ridiculous. She was unhelpful and actually condescending in her responses. Didn't make us feel welcome or well looked after. We found the clientele british, white and older generation, so the way the set up was catered to their needs made it quite dull for a family like ours. We are a couple in our 50s with young adult children in their twenties. One day I wasn't allowed to enter the afternoon tea with my flip flops which I admit are the rules but they allow people in with skimpy outfits however no flip flops which in my opinion is uncalled for. It feels like the British empire has collapsed but left lots of its bad colonialisms behind in Shangri-La! We won't be returning anytime soon.

The room cleaning staff were exceptional in the way they looked after us including their supervisor. Made us feel special and went above and beyond to make us comfortable.

Staff were all excellent except for: 1. On the day of check in, all front deck are without customers. So I approached an empty counter. The 2 staff that were there just used hand gesture, no smile, pointing me to other counter. That was rude by hospitality standard. 2. Upon checking in, we made our way to the lift with our luggage. No staff offered help with the luggage. At the same time, there was a guest from western countries. The staff clamoured to help him with the luggage ans even hold the lift door for them. Why are we locals did not get the same hospitality? We are guests too.

Staff very attentive and friendly. Lovely pool / beach area. Exceptional breakfast and buffet in Spice Market cafe and very good, reasonably priced a la carte. No passwords needed for WiFi. Call buttons and bicycle service by the pool. Spacious, well-thought-out room with everything we needed.

The housekeeper kept disturbing us eventhough I told him we are checking out at 12pm. He rang the bell twice in the morning and opened the door without us opening the door for hin. We were concern about privacy issue. I hope the housekeeping manager can have a chat with them. I understand they want to settle their chores but there are certain ethics.

The ceiling at the Spice restaurant need to re paint. The wall at the bedroom stained. It is terrible. For a Rm1000 plus minus room , we deserve better than that.

The buffet breakfast is fantastic - the array of food is exceptional and fresh. Our room was spacious modern and clean with a sitting area and balcony. The setting for the pools is exactly what I would imagine a resort to be. Food and drink service direct to your loungers. Beautiful tropical trees and plants everywhere.
