How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Couldn’t have picked a better place to stay while in Cameron highlands. The tent beds are very comfortable and feel private and the building and its design make it a very homely place. The owner was even kind enough to lend me his hiking shoes! 10/10 would recommend to anyone

Loud.
Kazz is great, helpful and knowledgeable. Able to recommend hikes and book tours. Location good, on main street of Tanah Rata. Dorm room was clean but loud from street vehicles. Saturday night was terrible, Sunday better. Bathrooms are clean and functional. Common area nice. Free coffee and tea 24/7. Free breakfast of toast, PB&J a nice extra.

Our pod felt a little stuffy, so possibly more ventilation in the pods.
Just the perfect place for a couple of days of hiking, such a friendly and helpful guy who runs it. The location is great for places to eat, to have coffee, and plenty of hiking trails from there. Really clean and nice communal areas to relax in.

Kazz is very friendly and really the heart abd soul of the hostel. He has so many tips and advice for hiking, tours,... The room and facilities were really clean, the showers hot, the mattress maybe a little hard but aside from that, there really is nothing to complain about.

Free breakfast (toast and tea/coffee) was a great addition to set you up for the day. Beds were clean and comfy in the tents, host gave great recommendations for walks and tours. Central location to Tanah Rata for the bus station with lots of cafes and restaurants within walking distance

A big plus would be the hand-out of a towel, but can't really expect that in a hostel.
Staff (Kazz) was very nice, helped with every question and gave recommendations for treks and activities. Other travelers were lovely and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and cozy. I loved the "tents", gave you some privacy. The small breakfast was a nice add-on and you'll even get it before the sunrise tours. Free drinking water, tea and coffee.

I didn't like that you had to go through a smoking area to access toilet and showers. They should not allow smoking.

Nothing, it was great!
The hostel had a nice relaxed laid back vibe. I stayed in one of the single tent beds for 3 nights, it was very cosy and was nice to have some privacy. Kaz was an amazing host, he made everyone feel welcome and at home, anything you needed he was always there happy to help! All facilities were clean and tidy, lockers are available for valuables. Would highly recommend staying here. Thank you :)

I was warmly welcomed by the owner. The location is great for excursions. Nice lounge and ideal for socializing with others. Small but nice breakfast - perfect to start the day and then enjoy the local food. I received support in planning my next destination. Thank you for this great stay.
