How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

the furniture some were a little need of a bit of paint/ polish. however a great room with a wonderful atmosphere
location excellant. very accessible. can get easy access to travel and taxis, walking distance to shopping mall just across the road. Room very clean, linen clean, they provided me with soft pillows on request, Breakfast can be easily obtained from the mall opposite usually after 10 am... nearby restaurants in basement of mall with an excellant selection of asian and western set menus... A/C and hot water very good. Concierge helped with luggage in checking in and out. walking distance to the markets and sunday market.

it can be hit and miss depends on the room assigned.. I've stayed at multiple occasion here sometimes the room can be run-down.. sometimes ok.. Hope it will be well maintained

aircond temperature cannot be adjusted, either switch on or switch off. sometimes too cold, sometimes too hot. some of the room’s toilet smells bad, i know because im a regular customer

I found the pillows a little hard but I’m fussy!
The central town position was wonderful as were the staff. For the money we paid, the room was great - this is a hotel of great value. Little things were a little tired but we didn’t mind that at all, the aircon worked well and the shower was hot with good flow - that’s all you need. Breakfast was good too.

The room was exactly as pictured on the website. Everything was in good working order. Furniture did not look dated. The concierge immediately came to the car to take my bags when I arrived. I was given a room with a seaview without me requesting for one or paying extra. Suria Mall was very conveniently located just across the street from the hotel. Hotel's location was also close enough to the Filipino Market for souvenir shopping and Seafood stalls for inexpensive seafood meals. Breakfast was better than I had expected. There was a wide variety of foods to select from.

The aircon takes a while to adjust on the first day and cool the room. I have to wait for it to do its job. The disposable toothbrush and toothpaste are missing upon receiving the room. I have to call room service and request for the toothbrush and toothpaste. The hotel breakfast food is very basic. Some of my favourite foods are not available but I still have to eat what is available because I need the energy for travel.
The hotel is conveniently located opposite Suria Sabah shopping mall. When I am tired after a long day, I can just go there for dinner and shopping without booking a Grab Taxi. The old-world charm of the furniture and lighting are nostalgic. I feel like I am living in the past without being born in the 1970s. They have fast elevators, a fast check-in process, and a doormen at the hotel entrance to open the door for you. It can save me time and complete my busy itinerary without delays.

The room is quite dark. No lamps near the bed.
A good hotel to stay if you want to walk around KK. Very close to gaya street night market, a shopping mall (suria sabah) and jesselton terminal (if you're planning for island hopping). Their staff are very welcoming and helpful.

Not much of the things i dont like actually, is just the hotel were the old hotel, nothing much to complain. I would say the price is reasonable due to they are not like those new hotel .. Sometime it might be a bit noisy if you stay lower floors
I like the Hospitality they provide. The staff there are super good service, they wont let you open the door yourself. Also they keep smile on their face all time. This is my first time in KK by myself, i feel safe staying there.

Nothing in particular. it was a pleasant stay overall.
Breakfast: Breakfast was simple but satisfying. Enjoyed the relaxed vibe and the view made it even better. Location: Super convenient! Right in the heart of Kota Kinabalu city. Easy to explore, and just a short walk to the waterfront and shopping areas.
