Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe road there, but what can they do?
Had a new room at end of boardwalk. A fridge would be a welcome addition but may be due to electrical constraints. Even though the river was flooded at my arrival, the staff went all out to make sure every assistance was given (eg, getting in and out of boat). Great to listen to the monkey arguments in the trees outside room. Also monkeys generally stayed out of the lodge accomodation.

United StatesThey need more types of t-shirts in souvenir shop. The villagers created the batiks. They could easily design great ts. Also, website needs to be updated. The gallery uses flash, and doesn't work. These are suggestions, not critiques.
Tours -saw elephants twice, 4 of 8 species of hornbill, and numerous others. Staff was wonderful. Robert, our guide, is exceptional for animals, culture, and history. Unfortunately, flooding limited the ground walks, but we did batiks instead.

AustraliaOur guide and boat driver were excellent tour operators. We saw plenty of wildlife including elephants, orang-utan and hornbills. Great experience and we loved the lodge's rustic nature and the river location.

United KingdomEven factoring in the trips and meals, the rooms are very basic for the price you pay. The bathroom needs updating, and a fridge is needed because the only drinking water available for free is warm. Again, for the price, paying for limited and slow (often unusable) WiFi is a little unreasonable, as is having to pay to hire wellies.
The staff are all really friendly and the guides who lead the boat trips and treks are very knowledgeable. Halim, especially, was fantastic - we were always pleased when he was in our boat! The boat trips were really good and we saw lots of different wildlife. The great thing was the trips didn't feel rushed - because they're run by Bilit, there was no rush to get back if there was something interesting to stop and see. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable with good working air con. The food - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - was all good. Decent variety at the buffets and plenty to eat! The banana fritters for afternoon tea were also a nice little treat. The social aspect and opportunity to meet new people, because you get seated with your boat mates for meals.

AustraliaA lot of the food was very oily, so some steamed options would have been good if possible.
Breakfast was ok, although it would have been nice to have some herbal tea bags (eg. Peppermint) and decaffeinated coffee provided for those of us who can’t have caffeine. Ray (our guide) knew lots about jungle animals and plants, and spoke English well, which was great.

New ZealandI did not like the hygiene factor for my feet of having to remove my shoes for the dining room. Fruit at mealtimes was sparse which I can't understand in a land of fruit! And no bananas which was surprising.
This was a package with trips on the River, jungle hiking and other activities, meals included and it was the best part of our trip to the Borneo Jungle. I highly recommend a stay here if you're interested in Borneo Wildlife. We saw, Pygmy Elephants, Orangutans, Proboscios Monkeys, Macaques, Hornbills, Crocodiles and lots more. We had a wonderful guide Leo and his boatman Nelson was just the best guy. The food provided was excellent quality, nice variety but sometimes there wasn't enough. The accomodation was comfortable, had a good bed and shower and good working air conditioning. I would highly recommend a stay at Bilit for a trip to Borneo.

Malaysia- When wanting to join the resorts wifi, was informed that there would be an extra charge - Had to pay for wellington boots and leech socks to join the afternoon and the evening walk. I did feel that I already paid a significant amount of money to stay there, and therefore the cost should have been included
- Range of foods available in the buffet section - Transfer bus from Sandakan which was helpful - The guide (Mason) was really informative, comical and helpful - Beautiful and calm area. It's well taken care of.

GermanyTours were good. The cabin also ok. The food is the cheapest of the cheapest. At five meals (early, noon, evening) only watermelon each time. The food always cold. Partly quickly gone (buffet) and no replenishment. … not that I expect a top menu in the jungle, but cheeky in my eyes at the price. The worst thing was that the employees in the common area (only hard wooden chairs) were constantly playing videos loudly on their mobile phones. A natural enjoyment is therefore not possible.

PolandWe loved our 2 nights and 3 days stay at Bilit Adventure Lodge. We had a great time and total disconnect from rest of the world like no social medias, no internet, no tvs…however it’s possible you can purchase 1G at lodge but we didn’t by purpose since we had such a jungle, remote and nature experience. So sad coming back to civilization after 3 days…Anyways, we would love to shout out to our guide ROBERT who did our trip to Kinabatangan so special and memorable. He was so professional, knowledgeable of wild life, life encoglephia, birds, spotting and caring person that we already so much respect to him and appreciate more than a lot. Thank you so much Robert for your kindness and caring for us those days since we met at airport and drop off airport. Now little bit our experience at lodge, we had 1st day boat trip through river, got spotted many birds, crocodiles, monitors and etc…then night jungle walking is great experience also. Next morning boat trip was so emotional that we’ve seen Sunrise, many more wild life’s including proboscis monkeys ets…then next evening boat trip…just wonderful. What a day…we spotted 7 elephants along with many birds species and crocodile etc. How thankful for this trip…just amazing…even just around walking lodge already we have a lots of monkeys, birds and giants butterflies…and at last we would like to say Thank you to all the stuffs at Bilit Lodge and specially for our guide Robert!!!

This is such an amazing place. The location is amazing surrounded by the jungle and the river. The staff was extremely thoughtful. Their coffee was good. The food was probably the best I have had during my whole Borneo trip. The cruises are great. Saw many wildlife including a wild Orangutan.. So amazing to be there. It has a cosy and homely vibe to it. I would definitely come back if I get the chance.

NetherlandsThe room includes the tour which was amazing. We saw so much wildlife including orangutans, civet cat and a slow loris!! The lodge is so peaceful, just in the jungle with boardwalks around. Very comfortable and clean room. Buffet style food, they made us separate meals as we are both vegan, so they cater for everyone. One day we were the only people at the lodge so it was so nice and quiet. The night walk is good but we had a large group which made it hard to see things if you are at the back, you can hire wellies and leech socks.
