Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Very beautifully designed with nice colours, big spacious dorms and bathrooms. Very comfortable, safe, and clean. The rooms are quiet, dark at night, and very comfortable with cozy beds. There is a kitchen with a fridge and they even sell ramen and instant coffee. 8min walk from train station and some tourist spots. There were almost no people here when I booked though. Self check-in. The owners were available only per whatsapp or wechat.

United StatesThe dorm door slams loudly if not held while closing. Need more than 1 hangar/bed and a drying rack for towels; dryer out of service. Most Expensive dorm I’ve ever been in.
Good location, on Main Street, but my dorm was set back so not loud. Big clean and modern 4-man dorm & bathrooms. Two urinals, 3 toilet stalls, sinks and 4 shower stalls, all big and functional. Clean new linen. Code to enter bldg and room passed via WhatsApp after booking, card for bathroom left on bed with towel/toothbrush. I was the only one in the room, so no noise at all. Quiet AC and ceiling fan. Nice clean common area with quality kitchen/microwave/elec stovetop with pot and pan, glasses/mugs/plates/bowls/utensils. Full size fridge. Coffee/Milo/instant noodles for purchase.

DenmarkBan Sheng Teik in Ipoh is probably the best hostel I’ve stayed at in Malaysia. It’s new, spotless, and has a bohemian feel. Good location, everything you need is within walking distance. The bunk beds are super comfy, with curtains, lights, and charging plugs. Aircon and fan work well, and the section I stayed in was quiet at night. There’s a great, spacious common area with a kitchen, washer, and dryer, free of charge. While it lacks a true chill-out space for socializing, the setup is still very nice. Check-in/out is self-service, but the host is responsive and helpful via WhatsApp. Highly recommended for a clean, comfortable stay in Ipoh. You won't find better value for money.

CanadaNothing.
I was in the 4 bedroom female dorm and it was only me there during my stay. Bed was super comfortable, clean and spacious. There wasn't any lockers for my backpack but there was space between my bed to place my stuff. Had air-conditioning. Staff was super accommodating to let me leave my backpack at the hostel past checkout until my train arrived. They had laundry for free which I appreciated after travelling for awhile.

United KingdomThe only thing that could have improved was a window in the room, but not possible with the building layout and did have natural light from the skylight.
Clean and modern with a bit of rustic charm thrown in. Free washer/dryer extremely appreciated. I also liked the tuck shop available downstairs. Staff available via WhatsApp

AustraliaBecause it was new, not many backpackers HOWEVER I did not mind and enjoyed my peace and quiet!
The cleanest and most comfortable dorms ever! There was so much room in the dorm room (enough to fit a large suitcase that wouldn’t block people’s way),the bed was very comfortable and cosy, and there was a small table inside the bed to hold my toiletries. The location was very good and the bathroom was very clean! It was a really nice stay and the decor was very nice. Kitchen area was also great and clean.

MalaysiaThere was some leak at ground floor and the sounds of the highway was really loud. Proper sound proofing would be ideal at the windows and perhaps a solid door would help.

This is amazing place in a renovated old house. Looks like very modern apartment even if it's located in historical building. All the equipment is new, it's very clean. Rooms are spacious, offering privacy and good opportunity for relax. It is located a few min walking distance from the main train station and nearby Chinatown. You can find nice cafes or restaurants everywhere, also it is perfect location to discover amazingstreet art in Ipoh :)

KazakhstanI liked everything.
I found Ban Sheng Teik hostel as a very comfortable, beautiful and instagramable hostel. Interior design and provided services are very exquisite like in 5 star luxurious spa resorts. Hostel team is a main asset and joy of the hostel. They were very helpful and friendly. Location: Hostel is located in the heart of Old Town. Famous party street with café, restaurants, shops, weekend market in the park, mosque, train station, clock tower, street with mural arts and other sightseeing places are within 5-10 minutes of walking distance from the hostels. Kitchen: There is a nice kitchen with everything needed for cooking/warming up and eating own food. Watercooler/Dispenser with boiling hot and cold water was helpful to make own tea or refill empty bottle with cold water. I was seating and chatting with other travelers in the kitchen and in the entrance area where you can charge your phone or listen to the music from radio. Bathroom: I was happy to see that male and female shared bathroom with toilets and shower are separated. Laundry service: There is a free washing and drying machines in the kitchen where I did my laundry. There is an ironing board with iron for ladies and gentlemen. My room: I was all alone in 6 bed dorm room without windows, so it was great as I slept like a baby. There was an air conditioner, a ceiling fan, a giant mirror, tiny lockers (enough size to put small bag/laptop/valuable items) and cloth hangers in my room. My bed: Very comfortable clean bed with personal lamp, socket/plug to charge phone/laptop, towel, tooth brush and paste has been provided. Cleaning: Hostel was very clean like in the museum and in my mother’s house. Safety: Hostel was very safe as all doors have card access entry only. Even bathroom entry was via access card! Wi-Fi internet: Free wi-fi internet worked very well everywhere in the hostel. Overall, I can highly recommend Ban Sheng Teik hostel for local and international travelers.
