Lack of wardrobe and broom in the 3 pax chalet.

Loved that the package that we took was full board. The food was excellent. Also since Alunan serves ala carte food there was very little wastages. The food at their Bayu restaurant as well as Sunset Deck was prepared well and very delicious. We were so spoilt when we were there. The staff was so very friendly and helpful. My family and I stayed in 2 different type of accommodation : a 3 pax chalet as well as a double villa by the pool. The villa by the pool was well equipped and very comfortable. My daughter and her husband loved it. The 3 pax chalet can be improved further. When we arrived, found that house keeping forgot to provide the bedroom slippers so we had to ask for them. Also there is no closet/wardrobe so the room can look messy since clothes are left hanging about. I would also recommend that Alunan provides a broom in the room so that we can sweep the room clear of sand that we bring in (this is unavoidable since it is by the sea and beach). However the bed and pillows were very comfortable and room size was more than adequate to fit all 3 of us. The sea and reef around the resort are filled with fishes and corals that you don't have to travel far. We spotted a moray eel, a spotted stingray and around 8 black tip sharks! It was absolutely exhilarating. Since we didn't take the package including water activities, we had to pay for any additional excursion but we found the price of these excursions were very reasonable. Good job Alunan for making it affordable. We will definitely make it a point to come back here again next year insya Allah. In the meantime keep up the excellent work Alunan team!

Breakfast was limited and disappointing with the lack of choice and quality. No sun umbrellas round the pool or on the beach which seems crazy when it’s so hot. A few dodgy dishes in the restaurant which didn’t get eaten and a strong focus on Italian cuisine.

Had an amazing time at Alunan. Staff were so friendly and helpful everywhere. Rooms were big and comfy. Nice touch to add films which we watched one night when there was a storm. Food overall was very good! A la carte but inclusive worked well. We did all inclusive activities pass which was great! The trips were good and thought coral planting was cool. Pool was lovely. Great to chill. Overall amazing stay. It’s not a place to explore on foot or be near other things so you are tied to the resort but had a brilliant stay.

I wish there had been more Malaysian/ Asian vegetarian options on the menu.

My friend and I absolutely loved our six night stay at Alunan. The staff were incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming, the room and beds were extremely comfortable and clean, and the location and surrounds stunning, and tranquil, and secluded. Anytime we called reception for a request (such as laundry, to use iron etc) this was collected or delivered very promptly. The food was delicious, especially the fungi Pizza down at The Sunset Deck! Good snorkelling straight off the beach and a great variety of top class activities to enjoy! The sunset cruise was a real treat. Fantastic little cafe (Ocean Blue cafe) nearby down the beach, offering more food options and warm smiles. Loved Alunan's eco-conscious initiatives. Super relaxing and luxurious. We made friends with the staff, and were sad to leave. Definitely hope to return.

Snorkeling, Clear Water and All-inclusive Buffet under one Island Roof!

Too many stairs between facilities — not suitable for elderly guests. The beach was rocky and difficult to swim in. No water bottles (even glass) were provided in the room. Instead, we were given metal bottles and had to walk up and down several stairs to refill them from a shared station. Shampoo and soap were very weak. Only one toilet paper roll was provided for three guests, and the trash bin was very small. No iron was available in the room.

The views from the room and rooftop were absolutely stunning. The food was delicious and the full-board meal plan was convenient. Staff were polite and helpful. The eco-friendly concept is admirable. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable.

There are a lot of steps, so you need to be reasonably fit and mobile.

The resort was designed and built with huge sympathy to the environment, without the use of heavy equipment. The villas blend into the hillside and have beautiful views. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, it feels like nothing is too much trouble. The food was fresh and tasty. The boat trips which were included were excellent and well-organised, providing a chance to see the corals, varied sea life, and beautiful beaches.

I was worried it didn’t have a dive centre but Sea Voice Divers were superb so that didn’t matter in the end. If you are diving the all inclusive deal makes less financial sense because it includes snorkeling which my children didn’t use. I think Alunan could possibly benefit from visible hotel managers- which we have experienced in Indonesia. This isn’t a top luxury hotel - e.g. you have to arrange your airport transfers (although the hotel staff are helpful with this). Also, table mats would be nice! The buffet was small but I think that was to avoid food waste which I totally appreciated.

I loved the location of the hotel- it’s in a beautiful bay with a home reef. The swimming pool was excellent as well. You can walk easily to fisherman’s village (15 mins) to see the floating mosque and I walked to Long Beach which was further (over an hour) but also stunning en route- past quiet bays. My teenage boys dived at Sea Voice divers who picked them up from the hotel jetty each day. They absolutely loved the dive centre and its friendly and knowledgeable staff. Be sure to contact them in advance to book diving if travelling in July/August. We all had a fabulous holiday.

We stayed in the family suite, it was very spacious with a clean and modern look. Had an amazing view and the amenities were great. The staff were super friendly and helpful, Special thanks to: Front reception: Diana, Priscilla, Cel, Asyiqin, Fatin Breakfast staff: Aidil and Hasni General staff: Adnan We also booked scuba diving with the coral reef project, Haqim the instructor is extremely caring in the water and made the experience very safe and enjoyable. Alunan has a great ethos around caring for the beautiful natural beauty and takes care not to damage the coral reef. Loved our stay here

We couldn't watch TV as it appears to have WiFi issue, could not be connected. But since we had our phones plus doing outdoor activities,hence wasn't much of a problem.

The availability of water dispenser. Availability of renting SUP and kayak.Really convenient as we get to do the activity in front of the hotel. The hilly walk towards the room as u get a bit of exercise. Within 10mins walking/short hike to fisherman's village - convenient Nice SPA - had a good spa session there.

Nothing perfect break

Everything amazing location. Room was spotless food was fantastic water snorkelling scuba diving beautiful. Mostly the staff amazing group of people made me more than welcome and I’ve nothing but happy memories. I even became facebook friends with a couple of members. Can’t recommend this enough

The prices are very high compared to similar resorts in south east asia, I would say minimum 25% to 30% higher. You need to deal with many stairs to go up and down with the sun. It can also be a bit rustic as water and electricity shut down, however that's usually part of the experience on an islands. The taxi boats of the island are a bit expensive, especially traveling alone, about 5 MYR per minute after 7pm but this is not specific to the resort.

The spa massage was amazing and the crew very nice and helpful. The coral project team was interesting to learn more about sea life, we had very nice talk. It's a very good place to relax, meditate and rest. Also depending on the bungalow you get you can have a very good view and a pleasant terrace to enjoy the sun with the sound of the sea but it's not the case in all of them as the privacy can be different.

Our trip to Alunan Resort will be unforgettable. The staff is so friendly and helpful and that's why we felt so comfortable there. The snorkeling trips are very well organized and we saw creatures underwater that impressed us so much. We just loved it!

The food was a little overpriced

The resort is in a great location, only a 10min walk to the fisherman’s village. The staff were super helpful with anything we needed - my partner even had stitches that the staff offered to clean every morning and night! Our room was great too, even having a welcome gift basket and our own rooftop patio. Having stayed at another place on the island too, the value for money here was great in terms of what you pay for the rooms and activities.
