Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesNo elevators! Needed a Mexican restaurant! Only one night was Mexican food offered and that was only tacos. Buffet food was only warm and should have been hotter. No Ice machines even though there was an ice bucket in the room. The doors to the rooms were hollow doors which made it quite noisy at times. You could very easily hear people even though they were not talking loud.
Close to beach. Everything fairly close, no long walks to get to anything. Entertainment was very good. The three restaurants served good food. Close to downtown.

United KingdomThere could be more sun beds around the pool. Other guests would wake up early and leave towels on the sunbeds so there were none available.
Near to beach, staff were amazing particularly in Kids Club, huge variety of food available all day, good gym, good entertainment - kids loved it all.

CanadaThe excursion booking associate - Francisco showed crazy attitude when I was negotiating a booking for 9ppl in total worth $1600 USD. He does not like ppl bargaining, which is a global thing and he spoke lil too much out of his boundary line. He was unapologetically rude.
Good ambience & good food overall. Clean and well maintained.

SwitzerlandThe room seem to lack furniture, there was only one bedside table in between two double beds and a huge lamp was on this one bedside table which left hardly any empty room to place your phone or tablet. There were four of us in the room so an extra bedside table would have helped. The balcony had no chair or drying rack/string for the wet swimsuits so we had to hang them inside. There was also only 1 chair in the room, again not enough for a family of four. The buffet room seem to always run out of fresh tortillas which is odd considering it is the staple food in Mexico. I also never found fresh tortillas for breakfast but perhaps they have tried before and they don't get eaten or I did not look well....Overall good for us for 5 nights but we think there is room for improvement in the rooms and buffet food in view of price we paid.
The staff were all very kind and hard working. There is a lot of choice in the buffet room. The pasta station in the buffet room was good and generally offered a good selection especially for kids. Concepcion in the breakfast buffet was very nice and polite as was the girl in the egg station. We tried the oriental restaurant one evening and it was very good but portion size was a bit on the small side. The mattress and pillows in the room were comfortable and the bedding was clean and nice. The pool was nice but on sunny and warm days it quickly got busy so we would go to the beach instead as plenty of space - it is a beautiful beach. I agree with the hotel in not allowing people to take food to the beach, soon the birds would make a mess and it would be unpleasant. There were always plenty of security personnel about in the beach and hotel areas which was reassuring because we never felt our belongings would be taken should we leave them in the chair unattended for a bit. The reception staff were never pushy with their timeshare sales and were friendly and helpful. We never got to try the activities (kayak etc) on the beach because we had bad weather at the beginning of our stay so I cannot comment on that. The hotel has a sister property (Maya) a 5 min walk away, we went there one night for our evening meal at the Mexican restaurant which was very good, the waiters there were very nice, here the portion size was pretty big. Overall having looked at the two resorts I am pleased I chose Azteca as it was more suitable to our needs (we wanted a smaller quieter resort with a nice beach and not too far from the airport). The Maya resort seemed louder and a lot more busy with more guests/groups and more entertainment. My daughter loved seeing the wildlife in the resort (agoutis). Handy that a short walk away within the Playacar gated community you can find souvenir shops and an Avis Car rental booth which was great because we rented a car there to further explore.

United StatesHad a mishap with the security safe not working properly. Reported it when checking in but did not get reprieved until 2 days after when a maid found out, reported it and was fixed hastily.
Staff were upmost courteous and pleasant. Beach access was great. The vibe was very relaxed and stimulating. Activities were quite fun. The food buffet was tasty enough and the drinks were well made.

United StatesThe food at the restaurants were ok. It was a nice change from dining at the buffet; but the quality of the dishes could be better. The pool could have been a little cleaner.
Made to order food at the buffet was good (e.g. omelette), overall wide selection. Loved the whole fresh fruit, like mini mangoes and plums. Staff were friendly and attentive. Enjoyed the live music in the evening and the aqua gym.

GermanyOnly one beer brand, rooms smell a little like mold, but to be fair we got a new upgraded room upon informing the front desk.
The location is good, inside a gated residential area around 15 Minutes by foot from the Quinta Avenida. The Mayan Restaurant food was very good. The normal buffet was a little above average. Staff was very friendly. The liquor/cocktails offer was diverse, but not the highest quality.

United StatesThe food really needs to be improved. Some things are okay but overall it was lacking the quality I would be comfortable eating. Especially the drinks. I mean come on how hard is that!
The staff was extremely warm and welcoming and the beds were very comfortable. The beach was beautiful and the grounds were well kept.

United StatesThe food was...fine. Not amazing but a wide variety and everyone always found something to fill up on. Nice that the snack area where food is available whenever the buffet is closed included chips, guac, pizza, etc. The restaurants with reservations were good for something different.
The beach is fantastic - large, clean, with LOTS of chairs and a ton of trees so you can always find shade. The pool area was really nice too. The whole property is a good size - not too big - so the kids (teens) had the run of the place but could always find us. Rooms were a nice size and clean. Other resorts might be fancier but you pay a lot more for them too. For the money, I'd definitely recommend.

United StatesThe room was dated and worn. The tap water had a strange smell and we could not drink from it. The soap and shampoo provided were not very good quality and we had to just buy our own. There was no table to really put things on in the room. Our room was close to the common area and it was quite loud till about 10pm every night.
The service for restaurants were good and most employees were friendly and helpful.
