Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceIts a 20minute walk to the city center, so if you are looking for a short walk to the center you might look for a better option but a Uber ride to the center is quick and cost only $3.
Fantastic setting and facilities. Super ghost (Batiste) and availability of the staff. Staff was super accommodating.

United StatesMinor but slow draining shower could cause overflow problems if you don’t reduce strong water pressure. Odd TV placement that doesn’t really work for bed or couch. I preferred being on the patio anyway!
Beautiful quiet rooms, patios, and pool area. Also a game room with a pool table. A large, shared commercial kitchen provides coffee/espresso, cereal and everything needed to cook your own meals that can be eaten at nice wooden tables in the pool area. Many comfortable chairs in the large patio where it’s so nice to hang out. Large Screened windows protected by wooden coverings allow plenty of fresh air aided by two overhead fans and overlook the patio. While there’s A/C, I never needed it. Rooms are very clean, large, include a couch, very comfortable bed, good lighting, plenty of electric outlets, a jug of filtered water with wine glasses, and a large bathroom with very hot water for a great shower. Staff was very friendly and anxious to please and kept the grounds so clean. Communication by WhatsApp made everything easy including self check in. It would be my pleasure to stay again.

Beautiful old villa converted into funky rooms. Lovely pool area (though lots of bugs) and shared kitchen. So photogenic

United KingdomThe location is a bit far from the center but taxis are cheap and very responsive in Merida, so don’t get fooled by that.
The place has an intimate vibe which we loved, it has character as it’s not fully renovated but it has the right adjustments to make your stay comfortable. The pool is wonderful and it feels magic at night with all the lights on. The staff were also kind and helpful.

CanadaBe aware that the courtyard area is also home to noseeums (and mosquitos?) that are active at dusk and in the evening. I received numerous bites the first night that became large, itchy and painful welts. Of course, the Villa cannot eradicate these biters entirely, but had I been aware, I could have taken precautions to avoid this scenario. I would suggest that this info be communicated to guests upon arrival.
Villa Merida was a lovely oasis to come back to after a day of exploring. The pool was so refreshing with beautiful foliage surrounding the courtyard. A large shared kitchen area allows us to store food items and get our morning coffee each day. Batiste was an amazing host - he responded to our questions promptly, checked in on us a couple of times during our stay to see how we were doing and offered recommendations for cafes and restaurants which we enjoyed.

New ZealandWow! This charming hotel was the perfect retreat only a 20 minute walk from Merida Centro - it was so nice to relax by the pool after busy days exploring. I loved the high ceilings and old hacienda charm, tiled floors and water feature. It’s really beautiful and relaxing, the bed was so comfortable and big too. Staff were friendly and helpful but didn’t hover over you. There’s also a pool table! Highly recommend.

BelgiumNothing really! The room was obviously brand new, so if we have to say something it would be that we missed something to hang our towels from. Other than that, everything was perfect!
Beautiful accommodation in a historic building. Spotless room and great location. We got a better room than the one we booked, which was also a plus. It's a mostly contactless hotel, but the host Batiste is extremely responsive and helpful. Around the hotel you can discover plenty of cosy little corners to sit and relax after a day of exploring Merida. We had a night bus on our last day, but we could leave our luggage behind for our last day in the city, which was awesome!

MaltaWe didn't really mind this but the property is a 20 minute walk to centre. Nevertheless, a shade umbrella is provided to make this more bearable.
The hacienda is very beautiful and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The garden is well maintained and you can relax by the pool in the afternoon before going to the centre in the evening. The property provides pool towels. The host was super responsive and helpful throughout our stay. It was a fantastic experience and will definitely return if I plan another trip to Merida.
