Not very clean, Poseidon room is very noisy since it’s next to the road so you will listen to trucks early in the morning.

Great location, friendly staff, beach front

There was not enogh space to place my belongings. In comparison with other basic hotels, this one does not have the same facilities as other hotels, such as a wardrobe.

The room was plenty and nicely decorated. My first impression was that this room looks fancy.

Shower was not hot enough, not much space to store personal belongings although we had a junior suite. We wished breakfast started earlier (we couldn’t really get anything before 10am) and service tends to be slow.

Great location with plenty of food options, bars, shops and taxis. Direct access to the beach, quiet and relaxing spot that I highly recommend to travelers who want to stay away from big crowds and look for a more simplistic place. Staff was very respectful of our space and present when we needed them.

Great Stay Right on the Beach

    • Standard Double Room- Jungle Side
    • Stayed 1 night

The room was okay, but it was located on the other side of the road from the beach. The bathroom didn’t have a door and felt more like a container setup. It was manageable for a short stay, but not ideal for a longer visit.

Nice place, located directly on the beach. We had free access to the beach club, which was a great bonus. The food was delicious—slightly overpriced, but that’s pretty standard for Tulum. It’s recommended to have a car, as the hotel is near the end of the main road, past the party area. That said, the location was peaceful and quiet, which we really appreciated. Loved that it’s pet-friendly! Just note that there is an additional fee for pets

Alquimia had very lovely staff, and lovely beach club where you can sit and enjoy drinks and food while looking out to the ocean. Rooms were cute and looked lovely. However, the beds were definitely not king size. Or even queen. And the shower had VERY low pressure, which worsened in the evening. This definitely impacted the comfort of our stay. But we wil say the AC worked the entire time and THAT was amazing. Because Tulum is humid! We also felt that the price we paid for what we got did not reflect well. But having been to Tulum now, we realise EVERYTHING is expensive in the hotel zone. It’s just the price you pay to be near the ocean I guess. This said, overall we enjoyed our stay here. The staff looked after us with cheap parking across the road for our e-scooter/bike and helped us book reliable taxis as needed.

Great location if you want to spend a fortune

Our initial room in a shipping container was very noisy. Every 5 minutes there was a loud crashing sound and when we complained they said this was normal?!?! Thankfully they moved us as it definitely isn't normal to have to sleep with that. In the new room they were less stingy with the pillows and we had 2 each, but only 1 each in a shipping container. The bed has a plastic topping on which made it feel cheap and not that comfortable. Nothing opened until 9am and even then it was opening late so you can't get a beach towel or any coffee or breakfast from the hotel until after 9am. Not ideal when you just arrive and wake up at 6am due to the jet lag. However 5 mins walk along the beach there is another hotel called Lulu which opens at 7.30 and the breakfast is really nice. Everything is extortionate prices at this hotel and in Tulum Playa in general,, higher than in London. Beware you will spend a fortune. It's worth it as the scenery is incredible, but save to spend around £300 per day on food and drinks as a couple on top of the hotel. Or just drink beer. There is a bit of construction going on at the hotel - the yoga deck is not ready and a bit of an eyesore.

Great location right on the beach, think this was the cheapest hotel in the area with direct beach access. Only about 10 mins walk to lovely restaurants for the evening. Other beach bars for the day are on your doorstep however we tended to stay at the hotel beach as the sun loungers are huge and comfy (comfier than the beds) and they had a good playlist on. The beach bar next door has 2 for 1 aperol spritz though which was nice to pop over for

Our second room has raccoons on the roof that scratch and run around all night - kept us awake all night, however when we mentioned it the staff they moved our room right away. The pool area was under construction so it wasn’t very usable.

When we arrived there was some construction being done by the city right outside of the storage container rooms and the staff upgraded our room no problem which was great. We had an issue in the second room and we were once again upgraded - very accommodating. The rooms were beautiful and the beach area was nice. They give you fresh beach towels every day. Staff was kind and helpful. The location was also on the quieter end of the beach street which was relaxing and it was still walking distance to all the action.

Rooms are small, but enough for sleeping. The beds are not the most comfortable but still good. Regarding the shower water, it is true that it is salty, however this is a very common thing for the beach hotels.

Overall a great experience for a reasonable price. The hotel located closer to a quiet zone of the beach so nightlife is walkable distance but might take between 15 to 60 min depending on where you go. The service was great and attentive to details, beside of the fact that room cleaning is optional which I found weird. The beach club is the best part of this place when you stay in a hotel it allows you to enjoy comfortable sunbeds. The food and drinks are overpriced but also you pay for the view and portions are big

The finishing of the room is not great and the water power in the container room was not good

My 5th time for the last 10 years in Tulum! Difficult to find a great place with a good value for money in Tulum and this is the place ! They have different type of rooms ( the containers on the beach side and on other side of the street too and they are cheaper ) they have nice room with view on the beach and small bungalow room attached to eachother next to the entrance and bit close to the street ) However the staff is great and very helpfull restaurant is nice and the food is great value vs money !

I liked the hotel, just they let a died cockroach in the bathroom and I am really phobic about cockroaches

The rooms, while advertised as doubles, felt a bit uncomofrtable for two people. Additionally, the room service was a bit unusual—we had to specifically ask for the bins to be emptied and the room to be cleaned, which we thought would be done automatically.

The hotel is perfectly located, offering easy access to nearby beach clubs and restaurants, either through the beach or the street. Its stunning views and direct beach access were truly highlights of our stay. We also loved the great service at the hotel’s beach restaurant, which made our experience even more enjoyable and relaxing. Also, staff was overall friendly and helpful.

Most staff had no English which made it very difficult to communicate. The door to our bedroom didn't close properly and there was no way to keep mosquitoes out; we were eaten alive during the night. Food at the hotel was super expensive.

The downside is that there's no bigger store around it where you can get a bunch of fresh fruits or something. I had to take the taxi to downtown tulum to get some stuff. Otherwise there are some smaller shops close by and a lot of restaurants.

I stayed 5 nights in one of the countainerrooms. It was clean and comfy. The shower and toilet are outside just around the corner, which made it super special for me. I was there during the rain season. Using the bathroom during a heavy rain shower was something else. Loved it 😄 Nice bar and a comfy beachbeds. The beach itself is beautiful. You can walk for miles past a bunch of interesting hotels.

We found there were not a lot of amenities in the room. So if you need tv/coffee machine /kettle / fridge this is not in the room and perhaps the area is not for you. Tipping housekeeping was also a thing that was requested which is the first time I have ever encountered this. We did it but really would prefer the hotel just to include this in price

Location was great, sunbeds on the water were amazing and very relaxing throughout the day. It does take a day or two to settle in and the food at the hotel is good considering the price. Be prepared to pay higher than normal pricing. The front staff helped us with an issue in room booking, the room we were assigned Posideon was very noisy with music.
